Link silently stared at the mirror frame, still in shock from what he just witnessed. The last of the mirror shards slowly disappeared from view, and he stood in the silence. The closest friend he made on his journey, the one who was there for him throughout all the pain, was gone. He stood still, realizing that there is no possible way for him to ever see her again. The only connection to the world of twilight was that mirror, but was shattered, into millions of pieces. Shattered by a single tear.

Princess Zelda stood at his side, still staring at the place where the Twilight Princess stood, before she vanished into twilight. She looked over at Link and she saw the pain in his eyes. She realized that there was nothing she can possibly do or say that will take away some of the pain. She also had been faced with much pain, throughout the entire time. She wanted to help Link, say comforting words, but she could think of nothing. She slowly turned, and walked away from the mirror, leaving Link alone with the empty space where the mirror had been.

Link didn't know what to do. The one person who he thought he could trust the most was gone. He closed his eyes for a moment, thinking that when he opened them again, she would be standing there. When he opened his eyes, he was faced with the painful truth that she was gone, and he couldn't get her back.
