"Link.... I.... I'll see you later..."

Link jump awake suddenly in a cold sweat. He looked around, and remembered where he was. He was back at Ordan, his home. It just... didn't feel as homely as he remembered.

Link slowly sat up and put his feet on the floor. He was still extremely tired, because he tossed and turned the whole night, and got hardly any rest. Every time I try to sleep I have that same dream every time.... I don't get it.. I know she is gone, but something inside of me just can't accept that...

Link stands up, and looks out the small window at the top of his house. It is silent except for the sound of the wind in the leaves, and the birds, singing their morning songs. The sun is just beginning to rise, and the sky is painted a beautiful pink color. He climbs down the ladder and stands on the floor of his house. He needs to go somewhere to think...

Link grabs an apple he finds on his table, and he heads out the door, and down the ladder. The morning is still peaceful as he looks around. He spots Epona, just waking up from her nights rest. He walks over, and begins to stroke her mane.

"Hey girl, how did you sleep?" Link thought for a moment. "Well, at least you can sleep. I am honestly beginning to think you understand more than anyone else in the village. You traveled with me through my whole journey. You even help me defeat evil once and for all."
Link sighed. Well, the only person who understands me is a horse...

Link looks towards the forest. Well, I bet I could find a cozy tree to sit under in there.

Link holds out the apple he grabbed earlier and offered it to Epona. She let off a small whinny and happily accepted the gift. Link stroked her mane while she munched, then stepped back and looked again at the forest.

----------

As Link walked through the forest, he thought about the dream that constantly fills his head. Did she really have to leave? Couldn't she have found another way? Why did she have to break the mirror? Did she know this would mean we could never see each other again?

All the questions were beginning to make his head hurt. He kept slowly walking until he reached the spirit spring. He turned towards the water and stared at the tiny ripples moving across the surface. The birds were still singing, and the forest was still silent. He started to walk towards the sparkling water. Once he reached the edge, where the damp sand met the water, he sat down, letting his feet touch the cool liquid. When he touched the water, all the ache and tiredness in his bones seemed to lessen. As a child, he always used to come here when he felt pain. The water always seemed to take the pain away, and left him feeling happier. This time, the pain is fading, but he was no where close to being happy.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. There had to be some way to fix the mirror. Just like I was always told as a child, nothing is impossible.

Link opened his eyes. Nothing is impossible. He let out a long sigh. Lots of things are impossible. It's impossible for anyone here to understand what I went through. All the pain and suffering, that I had to endure all alone. Wait, not all alone... I had Mid-

Link let out a loud yell, releasing the frustration that was beginning to bubble inside of him. The birds stopped singing and he sat in complete silence. He looked down at the water. Calm down Link! What was that? Don't let this make you mad! Remember how rude she was to you at first? Why are you so upset about her being gone?

The birds suddenly started to sing again, and the peaceful sounds returned to normal. You care so much because she was your friend. She sacrificed just as much as you did. She understood everything you had to go through, because she went through it too. You are upset about this because she is now gone. You can never see her again. Now no one understands...

Link stares off somewhere. I am all alone.

Suddenly he hears a noise behind him. He turns around quickly to see Ilia, standing by the gate.

"Link.... What's bothering you? I heard you scream..." She asked in a gentle voice.

Link lets out a big sigh. " I'm sorry." He said, looking back towards the sand.

"For what?" Ilia asked.

"I'm not the same Ilia. I'm not the Link you knew when we were kids." Link said with a sad tone in his voice. "My journey changed me. I saw the world from a different point of view. One that I had never seen in Ordan. I defeated evil but... I lost one of the only things I had left that mattered to me." Link looked up to look her in the eyes. "I lost a friend."

"Link, I know you faced more pain than any of us could possibly bear in the village, but think about it. You still have all of us. We will always be here for you Link."
