He was wearing really big metal armor. He obviously wasn't taking any chances this time.
"Hey, it's that one guy."
"Shut up diamond. We're here to arrest you."
"Again?"
"Open fire!"
The bullets didn't get close to me, and the dust fell to the ground before it could hit me. The soldiers stopped firing and I started walking forward. The man smiled and looked to either side. I looked back and two large electric guns were mounted in the front of the dojo. They fired but the electricity fell to the ground and swirled around to form Eliza.
"Eliza, I can handle this, please just go inside."
"Handle this? I just saved your ass, what are you talking about 'handle this'?"
"Don't worry about it, just stay behind me."
They started backing away and I started moving forward. He smiled again and looked at the ground. I put my foot down and he frowned. Eddy popped up out of the ground carrying a bunch of explosives in his arms.
"Hey, I found all these bombs under ground, I figured you'd want them."
"Eddy, could you please go inside?"
I saw out of the corner of my eye that he raised his fist and dropped it. I put my hands up and generated a field of death in front of the three of us. Every bullet fired turned to dust and fell to the ground in front of us. I thought that the amount of lead dust would be pretty hazardous so I expelled the field, but it didn't go beyond their front shields.
"Ditanium. I should've known."
They stopped firing and advanced. Mary stumbled to the front door
"What is with all this noise Chris? I can't sleep with you using your power like that." She looked over us and saw all the guns. "Who the hell are you guys?"
"Sir, there are four of them now, we can't handle that many." Said one of the people in armor.
"Just stand your ground!" The man leading them said.
"Guys, it's too early for this." Mary said sleepily.
"You're all under arrest."
"Please, I'm too tired."
"You're too dangerous to be out in the open."
"Oh my god you are dumber than you look."
"Come quietly, or we'll have to use force."
"Explain to me how your ass can move me from this spot right now."
"So be it. Fire at will."
I was about to put up the death field again, but suddenly all of them froze in place. Suddenly I realized the wall of ice surrounding them. I looked back at Mary, holding one hand out.
"Mary."
"What Chris?"
"Let them out."
"Why?"
I glared at her for a few moments. "Now."
"Alright fine." Mary put both her hands up towards the massive block of ice, and the entire thing melted down instantly. She threw her arms wide and the water expelled to the side. The soldiers fired their guns off in random directions, but not going anywhere because of the water. All of the soldiers fell to the ground coughing and spitting out water. Mary grunted at them and walked inside.
She seems to be in a fun mood.
Yes Jess, just go inside a minute.
Jess hoped out of my jacket pocket, rolled on the ground, and walked back inside. The man who was leading was on his hands and knees, his short blonde hair matted down to his head. I walked over too him and held out my hand. He backed away and grabbed his gun again. I put down my hand but his gun was still trained on my head. I glared at him, over the barrel of his oddly large shotgun. I sighed and turned away. He pulled the trigger as I spun back around and grabbed the barrel. The shells fell through the dust onto the ground.
"You should be thanking me for not killing you right now. Or for not letting you die to all the threats you were completely oblivious too. Don't come back here again, or I'll be forced to kill you. I'm not letting you hurt my friends, and my family."
He scrambled and picked up another gun.
"I don't want to hurt you." He pulled the rifles trigger and every bullet turned to dust. I flicked the guns barrel with my finger and it turned to dust as well. "But I'm not going to let you harass and attack my family."
He stumbled to the ground and ran away. The other soldiers followed him. I helped some of them up and one of them had lost their mask. I picked it up and handed it to her. She grabbed it from my hands. She brushed her deep red hair out of her eyes.
"Thank you."
"Anytime."
She smiled to me and I gave her a smile back. She shook her head a little and moved along with the troops.
"Hey! What's your name?"
She turned back to me, once again brushing the hair out of her face. "Rachel."
"I like your hair."
"Thanks." She smiled again and turned back to leave. I watched her go back and disappear into the crowd of soldiers. She was working that bullet proof vest.
"damn..." I muttered under my breath as I too turned back home.
I walked in through the front door and quietly shut it behind me. Mary was standing there with her arms folded, looking much more awake than before.
"Oh. Hi."
"Who was that?"
"Who?"
"You do know that we can read each others minds, right?"
"Oh, her, right umm... no one. Don't worry."
I walked away, back to my room.
"'She was working that vest' though? Seriously?"
I turned back to her and glared. She shrugged. I waved my hand and her eyes rolled back. She hit the ground snoring.
I went back to go and pick her up. "I swear it's like I'm living with children." I carried her back to her bed and put her blanket over her. I went back to my bed and sat down. I saw a small bump under the covers and I tapped it. Jess gave a small giggle and shrunk down. I lifted the sheet off of her and she crawled out.
"Hi dad!"
"Hello gorgeous."
She giggled and jumped off the bed like a trampoline. She had become very agile, I bet she could take down Air single handedly at this point. I laid down in my bed. I didn't sleep, I just let my mind wander so that everyone else could sleep. I was hoping that I wouldn't give any of them nightmares, and that they would be prepared for that thing coming. I couldn't watch my friends die.
Not again.
