Rachel flung herself at the bars. I had to grab her by her foot as she jumped. Andrew was about to touch the bars to collapse the field and save her. I wondered what was going on. Rachel spun and grabbed me.
"Let him out!"
"Why?"
"That's my brother!"
I stood dumbfounded staring at her and back at Andrew. I couldn't see any resemblance whatsoever, but I accepted it. She ran close enough to the bars to touch them and glared at me.
"No."
"What?"
"No! I'm not letting him out of there!"
"He's not Air! He's my brother!"
"Umm... Rachel..." Air lifted his hand so that she could see the diamond tattoo on his hand. "Surprise!"
Rachel stepped back. "You're... You're a... You're Air?"
"Yeah. I'm the Air diamond."
Rachel looked down in shock, but shook her head. "Open it."
"Still, No."
"Now!"
"No! Rachel I don't know who you think your brother is, but that man in there killed my friends, and my teacher. I let him out, he might do it again."
"He's my brother. At least let me inside!"
"I'm not going to let you risk your life either!"
"Chris, let me go and talk to him."
I hesitated. "Fine." I made another gray box and opened one wall. Rachel stepped into it and the wall closed behind her. The cell door opened and she rushed in to hug Andrew.
"I thought you were gone!"
"I'll never leave you again, Rachel."
They both had tears in their eyes. I waited for them to stop hugging before I asked. "What's going on, Air?"
"I'm not Air, I'm Andrew. Air was my split personality, you killed him when you touched my head after you beat him."We all sat down. I was outside the cell in case anything happened, but at this point, I figured he wasn't lying.
"Well, Rachel, now you know I'm a diamond, let's start from the beginning.
"You know that we were both taken away from our family when I turned 8, so I'll start there. You were taken to a family, while I was taken to my family. I hated leaving you, especially right after our father killed our mother. Well, our dad broke out of prison. He came to me and attacked. I had to defend myself, and that's when he stopped breathing. My diamond came out as he was dying, as every diamond does after a traumatic event, but my diamond is... different. Steven said I would be able to control it, but I couldn't. When I turned 16, my diamond turned on my mother. It took me over and I slashed her. Steven found out and expelled my diamond, but he turned on every other diamond. Mary, helped him take down some of them, and they all died. Obviously, Chris teamed up with Fred, Steven, and recently revived Mary, to stop him. Chris touched me, and revived my essence, and killed my diamonds spirits essence. I regained control and regained my diamond abilities in this cell over the past four years."
"Woah. That's a lot to take on."
"Rachel, I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to kill all those people."
"I know, that part I can handle, but the fact that you have that diamond."
"Yeah, I know, it's not a big deal."
"It is a big deal, Andrew! You're a diamond, that's a considerably big deal to me! I thought you were dead! First off, I'm grateful you aren't, but secondly, you're a freaking diamond! Seriously that's a big deal!"
"It's not, really. I'm the same person, I just have abilities now."
"Yeah, well I consider that a big difference."
I stood up. "Okay, if all of this is true, you're going to have to prove it."
"How?"
"Don't kill me."
I dropped the field and heard a big metallic sound outside in the cave.
"Okay, what did you do?"
He put both his hands up and something blew up.
"That's not convincing me at all."
"Well, what am I supposed to do it's not me doing that."
Suddenly black fog spilled out of the cave we came from, and where the explosions came from.
"Oh god."
"Wait, 'oh god' what Chris?"
"Andrew, get Rachel out of here, now!"
"What? Why?"
"Don't argued, just GO!"
He grabbed Rachel and they flew off. I took a battle stance. I saw the scythe come out of the fog first, and a skeletal hand came out carrying it. It's hilt was oak wood, and I could see that the blade was steel. The robe covered it's face but I knew what it was.
"Reaper."
It's hood nodded and it kept moving slowly forward.
"Could I convince you that you shouldn't be doing this?"
It shook it's head.
"Fine. Have a go then."
I blasted life out of my hand into it's face and it melted the top of it's body off. It fell to one knee but I could already see it's head reforming quickly. In a few moments it had a full hood again, and advanced fast. I tried to shoot again but it dodged to one side. It grabbed my throat and pushed me down, holding my wrist. It tilted it's head when it noticed I was smiling. It whirled around but the vines had wrapped around it's neck and arms. They pulled it down and back up, slamming it repeatedly into the walls and floor. I stopped them and got a shot into it's belly. It started to regenerate itself, but I took off it's head and it stopped healing. I let it drop and I walked away. I noticed the vines turning black and I turned back around. It was already back up.
I tried to make a bomb of death, but it slammed it's scythe into the ground. It sent a shockwave that flung me into the ceiling, and it flew up and grabbed me by the leg. Before I could react I was back on the floor again, with complete loss of vision. I slowly got up out of the hole, regaining my life essence from the ground. It hit the ground next to me and I rolled into it's legs, away from a slash from it's scythe. I grabbed it's leg with a hand that was overflowing with life essence and I heard it's inhuman scream. I kept pushing life essence into it, because somehow I had an ample supply from out of nowhere. It's inhuman screaming turned slowly more human, and the bones in it's legs started growing flesh. It was a woman's scream now, I could tell. It's whole body changed drastically in shape, and suddenly it changed back into a skeleton-like creature. I felt the life essence drain out of me suddenly and I had to let go. My hand was flashing grey and green, and ached as though I had put it in a blender. I looked back at it in time to see it fly into me and jam the top of it's scythe under my chin. It lifted me up against a wall, pushing the scythe into my throat and up. It held it at a distance so I couldn't reach it. It slowly raised it's hood to show it's face, the same face that was in my nightmare, but without eyes. It's eyes were soul crushingly empty, unlike your average default perception of something devoid of everything being black, this was actual nothing. No light, no life, no anything. I was sure I was staring into the void. It's lips were a dark red, and it's skin was flawless, except for the fact it didn't exist neck down. It snarled at me and I saw it's teeth were blindingly white, and it's mouth was devoid of a tongue. It was all just a continuous stream of blood. I must have turned blue at this point, but oddly enough it let me down. I coughed on the ground for some time, and realized that the fog was gone. It had left with it.
