There was blood everywhere. On me, on Rachel, on the two guards. Rachel screamed and I looked down. He had been shot in the stomach. I turned and saw that Gwen was holding a gun. She was obviously frightened, she had just shot her commanding officer. The guards easily took it from her hands and pushed her to her knees. It was after that when I realized the bullet hole in my chest. I fell forward, but Rachel caught me. She held her hand over my wound, and rested my head on her knee. Andrew had managed to get his gloves off and immediately took off everyone else's. They dashed to attack them, using their ultimates, Eliza turned into a snake made of electricity, Eddy became a bear made of rocks and metal. He had claws and teeth of steel, and a pelt made entirely of cement and rock. The soldiers started running, but soon tendrils of water shot through and looped around them, pinning them to walls, and swiftly turning to ice. Eventually every soldier was down. I touched Gideon, and healed his wound. I touched Rachel and healed her broken lip and nose. I threw a ball over too Fred and he gasped in a breath of air. Finally, I healed myself, and was happy to breathe again. Rachel smiled at me and helped me to my feet. Gwen was up now, but seemed a bit shaken.
"Rachel, help her out."
"Okay."
Rachel rushed over to help her as I glared down at Gideon. He glared back and tried kicking me. I dodged and grabbed his leg, throwing him into the wall behind me. He fell with a thud and I picked him up by his collar.
"You touch my family again and I will rip every limb from your body, and grow them back and repeat the cycle until you beg for death. Don't touch my daughters, my sons, or my friends ever again."
He glared at me. "Go to hell." He spat in my face.
I used my life essence, pumping it into my arms until they glowed red. I did the same with my legs and hip, and I swung his body around, throwing him through one of the windows at mach speeds. I didn't care at that point if he lived to tell about it. I walked back over to the others, Eddy was reassembling himself and Eliza was reformed. She was still buzzing with energy, and Fred was still on fire.
"Mary, if you could let them go."
"Chris, we can't just forgive and forget this time, there was a two inch hole in your chest!"
"Mary."
I stared her down, until eventually she held up her hand and the ice melted. The soldiers got up and ran off. Mary was about to trip them all with a tendril of water, but Fred cut through the water, and all of it fell to the ground before anyone fell. Everyone stared at Fred for a second.
"What? Why would we hurt them anymore? We don't need to harm them, they can hardly harm us."
"They just killed you."
"And I'm perfectly fine."
I walked over to him and patted his shoulder. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it."
We all heard a gunshot, followed by Gwen screaming. I ran in to see Rachel was bleeding, and Gwen was staring, wide eyed with a gun.
"Rachel!" Andrew ran to his sister, holding her hand and holding his hand over her wound. Gwen aimed the gun at Andrew, but Fred wrestled it out of her hands, which didn't seem to take much strength. I walked over to Rachel and tried to heal her, but something metal blocked me.
"What's this?"
"Chris, heal her."
"I can't, there's something in the way."
"The bullet?"
"It must be ditanium, I can't move it, you need to get it out."
"How?"
"Use your talons, cut through the dead tissue covering it."
"Okay..." Andrew cut through a few of the broken patches of skin. I used my life to make her skin glow, until I made it practically X-ray, so he could easily see the bullet. He cut his way through, and pulled it out. I healed the wound, thankfully she didn't die from blood loss. She breathed in heavily and passed out. I walked over to Gwen. She was obviously having some kind of an attack, and I knew touching someone wasn't the best course of action, but I hugged her anyway. To my amazement, she hugged me back.
"I'm.... I'm sorry...." She managed to say through her sobbing.
"It's okay... you're okay...." I whispered to her.
Rachel stared at her and I looked back. She seemed a bit less forgiving.
Rachel, please. It wasn't her fault.
She's holding a gun and there's suddenly a bullet in my stomach. I think we all know who's at fault.
Rachel, she's just shaken.
So am I, I've just been shot by my girlfriend.
I know, but please, try not to be mad.
She passed out again and I asked Gwen if she could get up. She shook her head and I picked her up. We all walked back to the car. Jess crawled out of my pocket and onto Gwen's chest. She stared at Gwen's tired and petrified expression, and turned to me.
"Is she gonna be okay?"
"Do you think I'd let one of my daughters die again?"
She smiled at me and jumped up onto my shoulder. We got everyone into the car and started driving. Mary sat in the front seat, and Jess sat with Gwen, talking telepathically, hoping to calm her down.
"You know, I don't agree with a lot of the things you do. I feel like you're almost too forgiving, but you've never steered us wrong before, so thank you."
"Anytime. You're my family."
"Yeah, you seem to be the adopted father of all of these gullible idiots, so yeah."
"Wow, low blow Mar."
"Hey, I'm just saying, you have all these options, you could be a virgin for all I know, and you got like 5 beautiful women calling you daddy."
"I don't entirely want to have this conversation."
"It's gonna happen sometime Chris, the question is are you a virgin?"
"I'm not gonna answer that question."
"You're like, 19 now, right?"
"Yeah, so?"
"Are you a virgin? Come on, I won't judge."
"Fine, yes."
"Okay, I lied."
"Wow. You pile of shit."
She laughed and looked out the window. For a few minutes I read her mind.
"Oh my god."
"What?"
"You're a virgin too!"
"What? No, I-"
"I can read your mind, by the way."
"Well fuck."
"Me."
"Haaaaa nice."
We both laughed and talked the rest of the way, but then a red spot appeared on the windshield.
"Woah, what's that?"
"Blood."
"What? Why? Where did it come from?"
"I don't know."
More drops of blood started raining down. The windshield was covered in it in minutes.
