Sabrina Carpenter as Brooke Nation
AnnaSophia Robb (young) as Shannon James
______________________________________That was nearly four years ago.
Hi! I'm Brooke Nation and I am now 14 years old and I live in hell, or should I say Angie's Home For Girls Orphanage.
But it feels like a hell.
Where did everything go wrong? If that bastard didn't ram us, dad would have never lost control, we would have never been in that crash, then I wouldn't be here right now! I would be with Andrew probably watching our favorite movies. Mom and I would probably be cooking for everyone. Dad and I would probably get our game on in the drive way. Everything would have been perfect.
Why did it all have to change? Why?
Living in this orphanage has been nothing but horrible. The other girls have bullied me for no reason calling me "slut", "whore", "nobody" and other things that I'd rather not say. You know the usual stuff.
Sitting here on my crappy bed, hearing the squeaking of the spring really annoys me!
Squeeeeak
Squeeeeak
You get used to it after a couple years or so depending on the type of person you are. I walk to my dresser get into my so-called "slut" clothes which are actually a pair of sweat pants and a T-shirt that's way too big on me.
Yah. I'm such a slut.
Making my way down to the breakfast tables was my least favorite part if the day. I have to see my bullies. Sitting down, a hole pair of eyes just look at me.
"HEY LOOK ITS BRORE!" I heard someone say.
Brore was my nickname here. It was a combination of my name and the word 'whore'. I hated it.
A heard of laughter started and roses started to grow on my cheek. I feel so ashamed.
"What's wrong Brore? Cat got your tongue?" said one of my bullies. Her name was Shannon and if you me, she wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I don't listen to them. Good thing to because they were sing "Brore" together in unison.
Miss Angie came with breakfast and everyone started to shut up. Miss Angie was the owner of the orphanage if you couldn't tell by the name of this place. She seems nice and sweet when you first meet her, but after a while, she makes you feel like you've just entered hell. Everyone knew that if you pissed Miss Angie off, it was the paddle for you.
The paddle is basically this piece of wood that Angie smacks us around with. Like I said before, this place is hell.
Breakfast today: whatever the hell this is.
It had rice, toast, and some red stuff. Chile? Nope. I only ate not even half of the toast and went back up stairs, but not until after I ask Angie a question.
"Ma'am?" I say. We have to call Angie that or again, the paddle.
"Yes, Brooke?" She replied.
"I was wondering if I could go to the mall today?"
"Why?"
"Erm--One Direction's gonna have a singing there and I really want to meet them. Is it okay that I go?"
"No," she said firmly.
"Please! Please An-"
"WHAT?!" she screamed. Crap. I almost called her "Angie".
"Sorry! Sorry Ma'am. Can I please go? This is my dream!"
"No!"
"Please Ma'am! Please!"
"ENOUGH!" she screamed. Sometimes I really wonder how this woman never loses her voice! "YOU ARE NOT GOING UNDERSTOOD"?
"But Ma-"
"UNDERSTOOD?!" If you can hear glass break, that my heart being shattered. As well as my dreams.
"Understood, ma'am," I croak.
I ran upstairs and crash onto my bed hearing the annoying squeaks of the springs. I start to bawl my eyes out leaving a cold puddle of tears on my pillow. I quickly hear foot steps coming towards me. As I look up I automatically regret it.
Shannon.
"Omg! That was hilarious back there, Brooke!" She said, "You actually thought you would get a chance to meet them?"
"At least I tried."
"Ugh your so pathetic."
"You forgot stupid, ugly, slut, and a mistake to the world," I said as I stood up eye to eye from her. I suddenly felt a pounding pain near my eye. Shannon has punched me hard.
God this pain was massive! This hurt more than stepping on a Lego!
"Did I forget anything else? Brore?" She barked. Our of the blue, she kicked me right smack in the gut! Only coughs came out of my mouth as well as the sound of me trying to catch my breath. She didn't seem to get enough of it ether, because she starting to kick me even more.
"Fuck you," she spat as she literally spit on me and left. As I regained my breath I struggle to get in my bed. I lie down trying to ease the pain away. Didn't help much.
"I have to see One Direction." I say to myself. For about 25 minutes, I lied down on my bed, planning how to escape. I remembered the fire escape right near my window. All I have to do is go down those steps and POOF I'm free!
Angie or anyone wouldn't even notice I was gone. I'm just a waste of space according to Angie. Yah, she actually said that to me.
It's settled. I'm getting out today.
***
The time is 2:39 the signing starts at 4 but the mall is across town. So might as well leave now.
Everyone is doing there normal things. Angie is doing some "paper work" and the girls are probably watching tv. It's not a good television. It's from 1984.
I step out my window and start to go down the fire escape. I go as fast as I could, but also as quiet as I can be. God I hope no one sees me! It's just my luck!
I climb down the last part of the latter at the very bottom, and crashed down to the concrete. I did it!
I'm free!
Now all I have to do is run to the mall.
Wish me luck!
