*Eoghan’s P.O.V*

It was my first day at my new school. I sighed. I knew the drill, I’d moved around so many times, to new schools, new towns.

I was leaning against my locker when I saw the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. She was wearing a Nirvana t-shirt. I smiled to myself, the girl had good taste in music. I was going to go say hi when this group of what looked like jocks stepped in front of her. She looked uncomfortable, annoyed, with a little bit of happiness in her eyes. I frowned. What did they want with her?

The main guy, I think one of his friends called him Stevie, called her an emo bitch. That got me mad. Why would you want to pick on that girl? She was gorgeous, and sexy.. The guy leaned down beside her and whispered something I couldn’t catch. The girl nodded, and looked excited. I felt my heart sink a bit, she looked as if she really liked him.

Wait, what? My heart..sank? I cared for her? I didn’t even know her name! How I wish I did though.. I really liked her!

The jocks backed off and she went to her locker, which was beside mine. I couldn’t take my eyes off her, but she barely gave me a second glance. I was about to introduce myself when she slammed her locker shut and walked away to her class. Glancing at my timetable, I saw I had history. In the very classroom the mystery girl had just gone into, I smiled. I’d try and sit as close to her as possible and try talk to her.

I went into the classroom and saw her sitting at the back of the room beside the window, and there was an empty seat beside her. I made my way down to her and stood there awkwardly.

“This seat free?” I asked waving my hand at the seat.

“Um, yeah,” she said, looking distant, as if her mind was somewhere else. I sat down beside her, moving my hair absentmindedly out of my eyes. Out of the corner of my eye I saw here watching me. I gave a small, nervous smile. The second bell went and the teacher walked in to the room. The girl beside me sighed and looked out the window.

I tore a piece of paper out of a notebook and wrote hi on it. I pushed the paper in front of her, and she picked it up. She took out a pen and scribbled on the paper. She passed it back and I saw marks on her arms, under her bracelets. No, they couldn’t be…

I tried to push the thought away but I kept nagging me. Self-harm.. I hoped the marks and cuts weren’t self-inflicted. She must have noticed me staring because she pulled her arm away and tried to hide it under the desk. I picked up the paper she’d pushed towards me.

Hi r u new here?

I sighed, this happened every time. People were always curious about why I randomly turned up in the middle of the school year.

(Red = Eoghan. Purple = Ash)

Yeah, I moved here a few days ago because of my dads job. I’m Eoghan btw J

Hey J I’m Ash

You’ve got a pretty name J

She blushed slightly when she read the last thing I wrote. God, she was so cute when she blushed.. I should ask her out, but that would seem really forward, seeing as we just met. I’d give her my number anyway, who know’s, maybe she’d say yes?

It’s nothing special, but tnx anyway..

Could I have your number? I’d um, really like to hang out sometime…

I could she her thinking, her nose scrunched up a little. I hoped she’d say yes to me.. She bent over the paper again, scribbling away. She pushed the paper towards me again, shyly this time.

Ok… Ash - ……………………………. (I don’t want to put a number in case it’s real..)

Yay! J Eoghan - …………………………..

My heart started to beat a little faster. I had a number and she had mine. I was slowly getting somewhere, seeing as a while ago I didn’t even know her name. Ash smiled at me, and looked into my eyes.

“Your eyes look like the sea,” she whispered.

“Um..thanks, I guess?” I didn’t know if that was meant as a compliment or what.

“I love the sea, there’s something so calming and untameable about it.. I live beside near the beach you know.”

“Nice.. Maybe we can go down sometime?” I said, a note of hope in my voice.

“I’d like that, It’d be really ni-,” in the middle of her sentence the bell rang. Dammit.. I liked talking to Ash. What a nice, unusual name..

“I guess I’ll see you around?” she asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. I started putting my stuff back in my bag.

“Sure. You want to hang out at lunch?” I slung my bag over my shoulder.

“That would be really nice,” she smiled at me. I love that smile..

“I’ll see you then. Bye..” I leaned down and kissed her gently on the cheek. She blushed a vibrant red. I smiled and walked out of the room to my next class.
