*Ash’s P.O.V*

Shit. Shitshitshit. How was I supposed to tell Eoghan he has a daughter?? I’d kept it a secret for two years and then he has to turn up on my doorstep?? But it was so nice to see him..

Oh God, I was going to have to tell him wasn’t I..? I’d have to confess about Avery. Tell him everything.

“You’d uh.. better come inside..” I picked up Avery and sat her on my hip. I led Eoghan inside to the living room and set Avery back down on the ground. “Sweetie, why don’t you go to your room and play? I’ll call you when it’s time for dinner.”

Avery smiled up at me before running down the hall. I turned to Eoghan, who was standing behind me with a weird look on his face.

“Do you want something to drink? You might want to sit down too..” Eoghan sat down on the couch heavily.

“Can I just have a glass of water if you don’t mind?” His voice was kind of hoarse. I walked into the kitchen on wobbly legs to get a glass of water.

When I went back in to Eoghan he was sitting with his head in his hands. I set the water down on the coffee table and sat down beside Eoghan. I took a deep breath before I started talking.

“Remember that day I broke up with you? Because there was someone else? That someone else was Avery, our daughter. I broke up with you because I didn’t want to ruin your life by having a baby. Because I know you wouldn’t have gone to college full time if I stayed with you and had her. So I left you, and left you thinking I was cheating on you and leaving you for the other man.”

Tears started to fall from my eyes at this point. How could I ever have cheated on him, even if I tried? I hated him thinking that. I loved him too much, I still do. I wiped my eyes, hoping Eoghan didn’t see but it was obvious he had.

“I have a child? A daughter? And you didn’t tell me?? Ash, why?? I could have been with you and her this whole time!” Eoghan looked half shocked, half.. Angry almost.

“I-I’m sorry. I did what I thought was best for you! I wanted you to have the life you’d planned for yourself! I baby would have messed that up for you, because we were so young.”

“What was best for me? What would have been best for me would having being with you! I’ve been miserable these past two years without you!” He really did love me.. Not that I ever really doubted it.

“Eoghan, I-” Just then Avery ran in to the room.

“Mommy, I’m hungry.” She looked at me with her beautiful eyes, her mouth set in a stubborn line. “Teddy’s hungry too.” She glanced over at Eoghan and smiled at him. “Hello mr.”

Eoghan looked at me. “This is her? Avery?” I nodded. He looked back at Avery. “I- This is too much to take at once.. I’ll see you soon Ash.”

Eoghan got up abruptly, made his way to the door and left. I wiped away the fresh tears from my cheeks and picked up Avery. “Let’s go make some dinner, shall we?”

Avery smiled at me and cheered. We went in to the kitchen and I started taking things out of the fridge. Avery climbed up on a chair and sat muttering to her teddy bear. I heard a knock on the door so I wiped my hands on a tea towel and went to answer it.

It was Eoghan again. “I can’t let you go again. Not a second time.” Then he kissed me.
