Chapter Thirteen - Transformation Jutsu

"You know, I heard rumour's that we get to try to become genin in a couple of weeks" Choji says to us with a mouthful of dango.

I sigh. "Don't talk with your mouthful Choji, please?"

"Yeah, yeah". I don't think he's even listening!...Baka.

"I just hope becoming genin won't be a drag..." Shikamaru says taking some dango from a plate in the centre of the table.

"If you don't pass you'll have to stay behind and re-take the graduation exam a year later, so no pressure there." Kiba says sarcastically, "I heard Naruto has taken it two times before, I'm surprised he's not frustrated by now...". It has been a week since the fair now and we are all just chilling at BBQ together, its a Sunday. Tommorrow we'll have school again.

"Poor Naruto, I do sure hope he passes this time...I-I mean I hope we all pass t-too, together." Hinata says quietly, blushing slightly.

"I don't think anyone even has a clue of what the graduation exam is like do they?" I ask curiously,

"Nope." Choji answers whilst the others just shake their heads.

I sigh once again. I mean I really want to pass with my friends but...on the other hand if I didn't then I would have to stay behind another year! With children younger than me, I would be so embarrassed! My friends would leave me behind and possibly forget about me...I don't even want to consider the thought of not passing, its too depressing...

"Hey I'm sure we'll all pass together..." Kiba assures me squeezing my hand and giving me a warm smile. "Thanks." I force a smile back. I suppose my thoughts and feelings must have shown on my face. He's made me feel a bit better now.

"Ok, bye I'll see you all tomorrow at school!" I say my goodbyes to my friends.

"I'll walk you home, ok?" Kiba says more than asks, I just nod in reply. As we walk Akamaru bounds along in the middle of us playfully.

"So, what are you going to do for the rest of the day then?" He says making conversation,

"Probably study, do homework...Maybe help out with the flower shop, what about you?" I say,

"Well play with Akamaru and I'll probably get told by my Mum to clean my bedroom..." I laugh at this, "And I was thinking to ask Naruto to come to Ichiraku's with me." Thinking about this I've never actually seen Kiba's Mum but he tells me she's loud and quite boisterous, making me less eager to meet her. Kiba also has briefly mentioned he has a sister called Hana she's about 20 years old and is a vet.

"Ok, well I'll seeya tomorrow then!" Kiba says and gives me a quick kiss on the lips before leaving. I stand there for a moment or two a bit stunned, (you see I still can't believe I'm out with Kiba), and enter my house.

Standing at the door is my Mum, "Hiya Mum!" I greet her.

"Hey Ino, you never told me you had a boyfriend!" She replies, raising an eyebrow,

"Yeah I-", I stop in my tracks, "So you just saw..." I blush deeply, going insanely red.

"Ah-ha" She nods her head.

"Well I got to do some homework." I rush out and up the stairs into my bedroom not turning once to face my Mum. I really do not want to know what her reaction is. Is she disapproving? Thinking I'm too young to have a boyfriend? Does she not care?

Either way I don't want to know. I need to distract myself. So I open up one of my school textbooks and try to revise. But my mind keeps drifting off to other things.

I wake up and do my usual morning routine; brush teeth, get dressed, eat breakfast (bowl of cereal) and set off for the Academy.

"Everybody listen up next week you are all going to try for genin..." I hear lots of murmurs of excitement, "So all this week I need you to all practise doing three jutsu's. Because in order to pass and become genin you need to perform three jutsu's perfectly, and the judges of that will be myself and Kakashi Sensei." Iruka explains.

"I can't wait! Especially think about it if we pass we'll be assigned to squads and get to go on proper missions! Instead of being trapped inside a dull classroom...It'll be so exciting!" I whisper.

"Yeah! I'm excited too, but also worried...I'm going to study and practise a lot" Hinata says back.

"Right we're going to start by practising the transformation jutsu...all line up in a line and you'll take it in turns to attempt to perform the jutsu." Iruka Sensei says.

We all obey his orders and line up. Iruka tells us to start and it starts from Sasuke.

"Transformation jutsu!" Sasuke says, Sasuke's fan girls look at him intently and say in unison 'Oh Sasuke!' He transformed into Naruto saying, "I'm such a baka!" in Naruto's form. The girls giggle at him. Naruto just stands there fuming. When it was Naruto's turn he attempted to transform into Sasuke only to fail, making every laugh. I just look at Naruto with a sympathetic look.

Shikamaru turns into Iruka, Choji into Shikamaru, Kiba into Naruto and then it came to my turn.

I can not fail and look stupid. I mean everyone has successfully performed the jutsu, only Naruto hasn't. I take a deep breath. I make the hand signs necessary. "Transformation jutsu!" I say and I turn into Kurenai Sensei.

"Ok well done everyone! Great attempt, you all did better than I thought you would!" Iruka tells us,

"Are you saying you thought we were all baka's..." Sasuke turns to Naruto, "Well he is." Naruto gives him a deadly stare, if stares could kill that would.

"Takes one to know one!" Naruto snaps back, sticking his tongue out at him, how very mature of him.

"Enough!" Iruka yells going slightly red. "All you need is some practise."

"Pfft...He could train all his life and not be able to perform a simple jutsu like this." Sasuke folds his arms with a stupid smirk plastered on his face. It's like he has got a smirk on permanently, I wish someone one day would just wipe it off his face and show him he's not the best.  

Once I got home I look into the mirror. When you become genin you receive a headband with the Leaf Villages symbol on it. I'm just deciding where to wear mine. I've 'borrowed' my Dad's one just to see what it'll look like on me. I place it around my forehead...Nah, way too many people wear it like that, too common. I wrap it around my right arm...nope. How about around my neck? Doesn't look right. What about on my waist? I tie it around my waist. I think when I become genin and get a headband I'll place it just here, I mean I don't think I've seen anyone else wear it like that- "INO! Where is my headband?" Dad yells from downstairs. I let out a sigh.
