Perseus x reader

Danae smiles as she sees Perseus courting you. Of course, Ancient greek courting was usually set up by the father and it typically involved politics, but of course, Perseus was raised by a fisherman and his wife along with his mother.

"Ah, Danae, Isnt it such a wonderful day?" The king, Polydectes grins.

"Well, Yes it is" Danae answers, her smile gone.

"Mother, Is he bothering you?" Perseus says walking up to the two adults.

One look at Perseus was enough to scare Polydectes off.

"Persues, My son, How are you and the young maiden?" Danae chides with a smile. Perseus grins and glances over at you as you admire some seashells he got for you

"My courtship towards her seems to be working, Mother. I hope to marry her before winter" Perseus smiles.

As Perseus and Danae talked, You see Polydectes glaring at Perseus from a distance.

You walk towards them and place a hand on Perseus' shoulder

"Perseus, I request you be more careful around the king. Alright?" You say with concern

"Yes, Of course" Perseus answers in a daze staring at you

"I shall take my leave" You smile and start to walk off.

A few days later, The king decides to host a party and everyone is invited. Even Perseus and his mother. You, on the other hand, were part of Polydectes's plan to get rid of Perseus. You were gagged and chained in the palace's dungeons.

Perseus looks around, trying to find you. Polydectes notices and smirks. He walks over to the hero and laughs

"Perseus! How delightful for you to have come!" Polydectes pats Perseus on the back

"Where's (y/n)? Did you not invite her family?" Perseus asked with a raised eyebrow. The king frowned at the disrespect but put on a smile

"You dont know? Why, (Y/n) of the (L/n) family has been married off! To a wealthy family in Crete, My boy" Polydectes's eyes gleamed as he watched Perseus expressions go from confusion, anger, sadness, then calm again

"Oh" Perseus finally managed to say

"Yes, indeed! My boy, what gift have you brought for me?" The king's smile was cruel knowin Perseus doesnt have anything to give.

The guests started whispering and pointing at Perseus. That was the last straw. Perseus was a demi-god. And demi-gods do not go down that easily

"I'll get you whatever it is you want" Perseus growls. He took the bait.

Without you around to calm him down and reason with him, Polydectes had Perseus where he wanted him

"What I really want is the head of the gorgon Medusa!" The king exclaimed. Gasps were heard all around them.

Perseus frowned

"What? You're the strongest man in my kingdom, are you not? Well?" Polydectes urged

"I'll do it! I'll get you Medusa's head" And with that, Perseus's quest began.

You looked up. Not knowing how long it's been. Days? Weeks? Months? You couldnt keep track. They kept you well and alive. Women were more of use if they were beautiful after all.

You wondered where was Perseus and why he hasnt come to save you yet. You look down at your food. Grapes, an apple, and a piece of bread. A guard came up to your cell

"(Y/n) of the (L/n) family, I have come to set you free in orders of the new king" You were shocked.

"N-new king?" The guard nodded

"Perseus killed Polydectes and now the fisherman who raised him is the new king" The guards said removing your chains

"Perseus? He killed the king?" You manage to say.

"After he was sent off to get Medusa's head, he came back with this woman and turned the king and his court to stone" The guard lead you out

"Woman?" You say walkin a few paces behind the guard

"Andromeda. A princess he saved. I heard they were getting married" The guard soon shut up when he reached the throne room.

You looked up to see the kind fisherman and his wife on the thrones. Danae looked shocked to see you.

"(Y/n)?" Danae stood up shakily

"My lady" You bowed slightly

"Bu-but he said you were married off to someone in crete" Danae stuttered walking up to you

"Who said?" You ask holding the womans hands

"My son. He returned with-with another woman, so I asked him about you and he said that you were already married" Danae started crying. Embracing you.

The throne room's doors opened to reveal a smiling Perseus holding Andromeda's hand

When he finally looked away from Andromeda, his eyes widened.

"(Y/n)?" He said bewildered. You broke away from Danae's embrace

"You!" You pointed at Perseus "You left me here in the dungeons while you found yourself a new woman! How could you!?" You yell, angry and heart broken

"Wait, Polydectes said-" You cut him off

"I dont care! I dont you to be wary of him, didnt I?" You storm to the gates

"Wait no, (y/n)!" Perseus tried to chase after you but was held back by Andromeda

"Who is she?" Andromeda asked

"My-my... She's (Y/n) of the (L/n) family. And she is the one I truly love, Im sorry, Andromeda" Perseus bolted out the door looking for you.

He found you. Standing by the shore holding one of the shells that he gave to you.

"(Y/n), my love" He sighed happily, reaching out to touch you. You turned away and looked at him with cold dead eyes

"Leave me. Like you have done before. I will stay here and awair for my beloved to return" You stated looking back at the horizon.

"What do you mean, I am right here" Perseus trued to grab you but to his horror, his hand went through

"I said leave me." You looked down and Perseus followed your gaze, a few meters away, your floating corpse was slowly being dragged further away by the current.

"(Y/n), I di-didnt mean to- I-Im sorry, My love" He turned away from you as your spirit slowly disappeared in to the underworld.
