Prologue
Melanie Anderson
It hurts.
It hurts to sit around looking at the hottest guy in the world while knowing he would never notice you, never know your name, and never know how much you like him.
Although, I can stare at him all I want, and he wont even know.
Why, do you ask?
Because he's just a poster.
And that's all he could ever be to me.
Just a face on the wall that blankly stares at you with their captivating smile...
Nico Marin
*sighs*
Him exactly.
It's not like I'll be able to meet him one day. Obviously I've have seen him in concert, but only from so far away.
He looked like an ant.
I've also seen him in movies, but it's just not the same.
At least it's something, right?
I also heard he was taking a break from singing, and was going back to school.
Public school.
Which is crazy since a whole bunch of teenage girls will go nuts for him. He's 17 and will be a junior in high school, just like me.
But you knew that already. I mean who doesn't?
He's famous for all the singing and acting he's done since he was younger. He's great at his job and that's why everyone loves him.
Every girl at school fan-girls over him, which is a good way for me to make friends and stuff. This should be great, although no one likes me. I'm that weird girl who sits in the back of the class.
I don't see why people don't like me. I mean I'm nice, I try to fit in by wearing pretty clothes, and I don't smell bad. I would know, I checked.
I think I'm a little pretty. Not like Selena Gomez, who's drop dead gorgeous, but pretty.
I have long wavy brown hair and sparkling blue eyes, at least that's how my dad describes them. I get those traits from my mom. Unfortunately, she died in a car accident when I was little.
I miss her, but I don't really remember her anymore.
I have an older brother though, and he spent a longer portion of his life with my mom. I know he still misses her too. His name's Dylan and he enjoys making my life even more miserable than it already is. But I know that he cares about my feelings, and he's usually there when I need him.
Girls at school think it's funny to trip me and call me names. It usually happens when I do something embarrassing since it draws their attention towards me. I guess I blame myself. I know Dylan would defend me if he saw them doing it, but they made sure to cover their tracks.
Point is I don't have any friends. The only people that would sit next to me at lunch are freshmen, until they find out I would make them social outcasts.
I usually get to school on time, but today I found it merely impossible to get into school with all the girls screaming and running around.
What was going on? I thought to myself.
I turned around to see a few girls running towards my direction. I ran out of their way and into a room that the girls seem to have overlooked.
If I hadn't moved those girls would have ran over my body.
The room was dark and quiet.
Why were all those girls running like they just saw god and were begging for his forgiveness.
I was starting to get scared and that shadow of a person over there wasn't helping.
Right when I was about to open the door someone covered my mouth stopping me from speaking.
Seriously? I thought.
Was I going to be raped and then murdered? I was not dying that way. I may be a nobody, but I was definitely not going down like that. Even if the only people who cared about me were my brother and father.
According to the muscular arms that were now around me, I can tell this is a guy. I watch a lot of television; in fact, Animal Planet is my favorite channel; the wildest animal to be seen as of yet is the horny teenager!
I licked the hand that was covering my mouth, grossing out the wild creature before me. While he wiped his hand, I kicked him hard in the shin and made a run for it. I wanted to see who my attacker was to expose him, and so I looked for the light switch.
When I turned it on I saw a muscular guy holding his knee, as he sat on the floor.
I've never seen him around school before, but he seemed so familiar. I couldn't quite see his face since he was giving his leg all of his attention.
Yea, don't mess with me you prick! I started to get my phone out of my back pocket to record him, when he began speaking to me.
"Why did you do that?" he asked. His voice sounded deep and beautiful as he slightly groaned in pain. I swear I know this kid. If only I could see his face.
"Maybe if you hadn't covered my mouth, I wouldn't have kicked you. We were in the dark, you can't just do that." I told him sharply. I wasn't going to be nice to someone who could have hurt me just a minute ago.
That's when the guy looked up. He had helmet blonde hair. And those familiar green sometimes blue eyes. Those pale pink lips that fit him perfectly. 'Y-You're N-Nico Marin," I said not very bravely.
He looked up with a sheepish smile, "Hi."
Oh damn.
