Chapter 2 On the move

Night has fallen and Zane traces his fangs while lying on his bed looking out the window. 'If she knew of what I was she would kill me.' He stands up and opens his door slightly and peeks outside. No one, and the lights are turned off. Shutting the door he writes a note. Then makes his bed, and leaves the note there before opening, and climbing out of the window.

Upon stepping onto the ground he sprints into the woods with a new found speed. Though as he does this he notices that he can see in the dark. Finally Zane stops by a river where he finds his father standing on an old stone bridge. But the man is holding a knife. "You're not keeping those powers boy. I'm gonna drive this knife through your head and end you before you have a chance to stop my plans."

The teen charges at the man, and slides across the ground and by attempting to block a swing from the knife. The weapon makes a cut across the palm of his hand. Standing up he sprints along the bridge as the man chases after him.

When reaching what looks to be a stairway Zane looks behind him. The man is running along the bridge which is now falling right behind him. Finally one area of the bridge breaks right under the man forcing him to grip where the steps would lead onto the bridge.

"Help me son." The man pleads.

Zane turns and sprints off. This leaves the man to fall into the water.

The Nightstalker from before reveals itself looking at the teen as he runs off. It pulls the man from the water. "Why did you test the stone on the descendant of the Nethsur?" It's demonic voice asks.

"Forgive me master. I needed to know what kind of power it possesses." The man answers.

The creature throws him at the stairway saying. "The Nethsur family tree has always had vampire blood. The Nethsur bloodline was cursed to never have vampiric powers unless unlocked by one who wields the hope stone created by Nickolis Nethsur. The first vampire. Our plans would have gone as foretold by the leader of the force responsible for the dark ages in 1670. But now everything is at risk because of your stupidity." The man backs himself up as the creature grabs the dagger.

"Master please." He begs just before the creature stabs him.

Zane sprints through the woods while trying to keep his hand from bleeding. His vision begins to blur as the ruins of a church comes into view.

He pushes the doors open and runs into another room and sits on the ground propping himself against the wall. After doing this he rips off half the sleeve of his shirt and wraps it around his bleeding. 'That should stop the bleeding until I can find a way to clean my hand.'

Sunlight shines through the broken window of what looks to be a small library which hasn't been touched in years. "Hello?" A male voice calls out from somewhere inside the building.

Zane's eyes widen. 'Crap. Must be one of the goons my dad was working with.' He grabs a wooden board from one of the broken shelves, and exits the room while standing ready for a fight. Upon seeing that it's a police officer he drops the board.

The officer turns around about ready to pull out his gun but stops when sighting the teen. "Oh... sorry kid. I thought you mighta been one of the Shadowbreaker gang people chasing after another kid from last night." The man says as he walks closer to reveal himself to be a middle aged person with blond hair, and some almost barely noticeable grey hair.

"I am the kid those crazy people are looking for. As it turns out my father is their leader." Zane explains.

The man's eye's widen but only before he says. "Is that so... oh sorry kid. Names Gregor." A dog comes running over. "Oh, and this here is my dog Bellwork."
