Chapter 17

Natalie Pov

As soon as I leave the diner I go straight home to do my homework and some of my chores.

I hear a knock on my door already knowing its my mother telling me dinner ready and to come down to the dining room.

"Yes?" I say as I open the door to see my mom

"Dinner ready" she says and goes back downstairs

I take a deep breath because I know they are going to ask a million questions since it was the first day of school.

I go down to the dining room to see my dad and my brother already seated.

Me and my brother aren't that close maybe it's the age difference but we do get along. He's a police officer I honestly think he did that just to impress our parents, but I don't know what they were thinking hiring him because he's afraid of spiders and he's supposed to be the one to protects us but I guess as long as the criminal not a spider or a clown we should be okay.

"So Natalie tell us about your first day of school" mom says she sits down

" it was good" i say

She raises an eyebrow like that's all I have to say?

"I'm thinking of joining an after school activity" I tell her hoping that will satisfy her

"Really that will look really good on your college application" my mom says getting excited

"So what the chess team?" My brother Adrian says with a smirk

"There's others stuff" I tell him with a glare

"You do realize your not the best at sports or anything that involves moving" he laughs

"Okay I finished that marathon" I say

"Yeah you did I mean you were in last place and you pulled a muscle but your right"

I grab a dinner roll and throw it at his head.

"Kids we are at the dinner table. Jeff!" my mom say looking at my dad

"Don't throw dinner rolls kids" he says as he keeps eating

"Also mom" I say to her but throw another glare at Adrian "I'm going to get a part time job"

"I'm so proud of you" she smiles at me

I look at my brother and stick my tongue at him when moms not looking.

After dinner I go back to my room, I hear my phone go off. I look to see its Holden which is weird.

"Hello?" I answer a little confused on why he's calling me

"Hey is this a good time?" He asks me

"Yeah is everything okay?" I ask a little worried

"Okay don't act like it so weird that I'm calling" he laughs "anyway I wanted to let you know I talk to the boss and he says that if you want the job it's yours"

"Really?!" I squeal

"You do realize this isn't something fun right?" He laughs

"I know" I laugh "tell him I'll take it"

"You start next week"

"Thank you so much. I owe you" I say really appreciating it

"No problem" he says "well I guess I'll see you at school tomorrow" he laughs a little awkwardly

"Yeah I'll see you there" I say just as awkward

"Bye" we say at the exact same time and hang up
