Senior Year Checklist

Chapter 40

Natalie POV

I almost didn't want to get out of bed but I knew I had to. I haven't left my room since Friday night when I got home from the movies.

I go downstairs to the kitchen where I see my mom I was really hoping she would be gone by now.

She looks over at me "Hey I never got to hear about your first game" she says

I force a smile "it was great" I lie not wanting to tell her the truth

"I'm so glad" she smiles proudly at me

"I better go I don't want to be late" I tell her and grab my bag wanting to get out of here

I pick up Rose and we head to school.

"Are you going to be okay?" She asks me

"Yeah" I nod

"We could skip school?" She suggest

"No I have to go back eventually" I sigh

"So what should we cross off next?" I say wanting to get my mind off of this

"Well I don't know. what did you have in mind"

"I was thinking maybe I could come over later and bake something?"

"Okay that will be fun" she smiles

I park the car in the schools parking lot and it takes everything out of me not to put it in drive and drive away but I know I'm going to have to face them eventually.

As I walk through the hallway i can feel people staring at me and whispering.

I can see heather and Britney and a few of the other girls from the cheerleadering squad looking over at me and whispering to one an other and smirking, but I can't help but smile a little from heather bruised face.

"Did I ever thank you for pushing heather" I smirk at Rose

"No one messes with you" she smiles at me

"Hey" Sara walks over to us

"Hey" I greet back

"I'm glad you came to school"

"Me too" I nod

I go to class and I avoid all eye contact with everyone.

"Hey" Ben walks over to me nudging my shoulder

"Hi" I give him a little smile

"They are just sad people and the only way they can be happy is making others miserable" he tells me

"I know" I nod

"Did you see heather bruised face" he laughs

"Good job Rose" I laugh with him

"She's badass" he smirks

I smile at him

Rose POV

I feel so bad for Natalie everyone is talking about what happened Friday, but at least everyone is also talking about heather bruised face which makes me smile since I'm the one that gave it to her.

"This will all blow over by tomorrow" I tell Natalie, she nod her head.

We all go to class and as I head to my locker I see Jason leaning up against my locker shocking me making me stop for a second. I take a deep breath and I walk up to him be cool rose for once in your life "um hi" good job Rose!

"Hey" he gives me a side smile "how's your friend?"

"She's good" I shrug

"That was messed up"

"Yeah it was" I fold my arms

"It will probably blow over by tomorrow" he says

"Yeah that's what I told Natalie" I agree

"She's lucky to have a friend like you" he smiles

I try not to blush at his compliment "thanks"

"I better go I'll see you later" he smirks and walks off

"Yeah see ya" I said as he walks away

"And you haven't asked him out because?" Amy says walking up to me

"I want him to ask me out and if he doesn't soon then I will" I tell her

"Okay" she laughs "so how's nat?"

"She's fine I guess" I sigh sadly hating what heather did to Natalie
