Senior Year Checklist

Chapter 31

Natalie POV

As soon as school over for the day I go straight home to change and then I head over to the diner wanting to get there early, I don't have to take Rose home because she told me Ben going to teach her how to drive which I'm grateful for because I didn't want to be the one to teach Rose how to drive.

When I get out of the car I look at myself in the car window and fix my hair and fix my shirt.

I walk into the diner and sit at the counter to wait for either the manager or Holden to tell me what to do.

I see Holden come through the kitchen door he looks and me and kind of does a double take. "Your early which I'm actually not surprised" he smirks

"It's my first day Holden I wanted to make a good impression" I tell him

"Okay let me get you your apron and we will get started" he says and walks back in the kitchen for a second and then walks back out carring a apron in his hand "here" he says handing me the white apron

"Thank you" I say as I grab it from his hand and I tie it around my waist "what do we do first?" I say eager to learn

I can see he's trying not to laugh "okay um you can just shadow me for a while and then we will take it from there"

For the next couple of hours watched everything Holden did trying to remember everything he does, so far it doesn't seem that hard.

"Okay it's time for you to take the lead" Holden tells me I guess from the look on my face he could tell I'm kinda nervous "listen you'll be fine let's just do one table"

"Okay" I nod

I grab a notepad and a pen and head over to a table with about five people sitting in it "it's show time" I whisper to myself

"Hi what can I get you" I say in a up beat tone, they tell me there orders which I hope I wrote down right and I go take there ticket to the kitchen

"See easy huh" Holden smiles

"So far" I say

"Do you want me to carry the tray for you?" He asks me but I can tell he's pretty busy since he's basically the only waiter

"Uh no I got it" I tell him

I put each of the plates on the tray and hope I don't drop it, I start slowly walking to the table so far so good just when I'm two steps aways someone pulls there chair back which makes me trip and fall on the ground making all the food land on me.

Kill me!

Holden rush over to me and looks down at me "are you okay?" He says worried and tries to help me up

"Beside making a fool out of myself fantastic" I say trying not to cry

Still holding my hand he takes me to the back to the kitchen and grabs a rag and starts helping me get the food of of me.

"I'll carry the trays" he says

"That's sound good" I agree

"Listen don't worry these things happen" he says seeing that I'm upset

"It's happen to you?" I say hopping it has

"Well no but I have drop a cup once" he says

"Exactly the same thing" I say with a laugh

"It's your first day you'll get the hang of it, just don't beat yourself up" he tell me "listen why don't you just help tony in the kitchen since we close in less than an hour"

"Thanks" I sigh relived not really wanting to go back out there

When the last customer left I came out from the kitchen to help clean up.

"You can go home if you want I got this" he says sweeping

"No this is the least I can do" I say as I clean off the tables
