Alice's POV

Life is interesting when one is from a polygamous home. It is not the normal everyday life one experiences. Mine is an everyday mystery packed with drama; sometimes happy or a terrible head ache. My family is the most popular in town, we were known to be a family of nutcase. My dad is the richest man in town, a yoruba man to be precise. He's an old fashioned man and a school dropout.

My mother is the first wife out of four, a well educated woman but sometimes behaves as if she hasn't stepped her foot in a classroom before. You can't blame the woman, especially when she's totally surrounded by illiterates, it makes her loose her sanity most at times. Her rivals are proud illiterates responsible for her outburst.

Jane is the second wife and also an illiterate troublemaker who behaves like a witch, with big black round eyes, which I believe she uses them to feast on her preys. One weird look from those owl eyes can give you nightmares even in an afternoon sleep. She has been able to produce three kids and is currently pregnant. She says that God said, "be fruitful and multiply the earth" therefore, she's abiding God's command. She had one miscarriage, imagine if that baby had survived four plus one unborn child equals FIVE!

I believe she sacrificed her child to the witch camp she belongs to, may God forgive my mouth but that woman doesn't just behave like a witch but is in deed a witch. I'm certain.

Gosi, is the third wife: a chatterbox. I think her name originates from the word gossip since that's her nature. She spreads the family secrets to the community like wild fire. She's locally known as top radio station in the community. The fastest way to spread news is through her and she's even the most block headed among Ango's wives. As the adage goes, "empty barrels makes the most noise." She gave her husband four kids. I hope they don't grow up to inherit her ill mannered behavior. She's always the first to stir up a fight but always ends up beaten.

Dede is the fourth wife. She's from another country; Ghana to be precise. I've always wondered, how she ended up marrying a Nigerian man. A woman far from home stays put in another man's land but not Dede. Although, she's timid, when angered she behaves like a dog infected with rabies. Poor her, she has only one surviving child Bumi, after three miscarriages. She mostly gets along with my mum whiles Jane and Gosi are best friends yet always quarreling.

The headmistress of the local government school in town, my world, an educated woman who doesn't deserve to have rivals nor to be married to a school drop-out: my mum Mercy. A lovely name for a lovely woman, sounds cheesy I know. She's a mother of two; Bisi is the first born child of Ango. She has been enrolled in a university at the city. And I on the other hand, is the second eldest child of the family. I am currently in my final year at senior secondary school.

John, is the first male of the family, who is Jane's first child and the third born of the Ango's children. I am two years older than him. His siblings are Naomi and Noah the twins of the family. Naomi is the older twin. When Jane had twins, my father slaughtered a cow for her and has been bragging with it ever since. The twins are currently in their final year in junior high school.

Ada the first child of Gosi and her siblings are Emeka the shy boy, Emmanuel and Joseph the black sheep of the family who are currently locked away in a boarding school due to their stubbornness.

Bumi, the first child of Dede and the current last born of the family. She's a mommy's daughter and a daddy's pet. We currently await the arrival of the unborn child in Jane's womb before its recognize as a member of the family that's if the embryo isn't sacrificed to the witch camp again.
