Chapter Ten - The Grey's

Easton

Of all the people who I've hated in my life, Cassia was never one of them. She was so much like me, always tough and ready to fight. A little short tempered though, and very protective of those she loves.

But now? She fights for Ryder? I never thought she of all people would betray me. Her powers were bestowed upon her by my mother. She can make people freeze just by snapping her fingers, and the only thing that can stop her is silver and an abundance of wolfsbane.

I don't know how I will defeat her. I love her so much, yet Elizabeth I love more. So who do I choose? My sister or my mate? Surely only one can come out of this alive.

"I don't know why Cassia is fighting for him." I grumble. "She always told me about how much she hated him. Hated the idea of him. His motives. His everything. And now she fights for him, knowing full well that he hides my mate from me and plans to kill her."

"I still can't believe that they killed my Corinne." Carson says. "She had no part in this. A human. Caught in the wrong place, with the wrong people at the wrong time. It's so unfair, this cruel world."

The smell of pine drafts in through the open window of my office. I sigh and run a hand threw my hair. This is it.

"Nathan. Carson. It's either the pack and our mates... Or us." I say while staring out at the vast forest surrounding the pack house. This may be one of the last times I see it. I want to remember everything about it, from the unique trees to the luscious green.

"I think you know what we're going to say." Carson says.

"Let's turn ourselves in. With our deaths, comes peace to the Black Dawn Pack, and to our mates. Elizabeth won't care that I'm gone, her and Lila will move on." I say the last part quieter than the rest.

'Dude, I feel like even if we do this, Elizabeth and our pack are still doomed.' Blake says. I know he's right. The guilty twinge in my heart at the thought of abandoning my amazing pack is almost to painful to handle. But I must. At least this guarantees their lives are spared.

"Yes, right away." I say. I leave the room and they follow close behind me. The pack members who see us bow deeply in respect. I nod to each and every one of them. A few, like some closer friends, I hug goodbye. The doors to the outside are easily shoved open by my hands.

"Easton. Wait." A girl says from behind me.

"Anna?" Carson growls. The traitor. "What are you doing here you filthy traitor?"

"I-I'm not a traitor-" She begins but Nathan cuts her off.

"Oh cut your bullshit! We know that you mind linked us fake information to get us away from the Young family." If looks could kill, anyone within a seven foot radius of Anna would be dead. I could see an angry blush on Carson and Nathan's faces.

"Please just hear me out." She says as a tear slides down her dirt caked cheek. I take the time, now, to take in her appearance. Very long red hair in a braid down one side of her soft face. Her light eyes filled to the brim with tears.

"Let her speak." I surprise myself by saying.

"Thanks A-Alpha." She stutters before clearing her throat. "Many of you do not know this, but Axle Grey is my brother. My real name is Kiera Grey." Mutters spread through the crowd at the mention of Axle and her real name. "I joined this pack when my brother joined Ryder's pack. H-he's evil, and I need to stop him."

"So, my plan was to come to you as Anna Davis, the girl who no one knew or cared about. When I linked you about the attacks, I was saving you from Henrick, Archer and Isaac, who faked Henrick and his father's attack to protect themselves. They all work for Ryder. I knew you wouldn't come back if I just told you, so I told you we were being attacked, to save you from the coming ambush." She finishes.

Everyone is in shocked silence. The girl no one ever cared to know or notice, is Axle Grey's sister.

'Blake how should we...um...proceed?' I ask, puzzled.

'Forgive her. I have a plan.' He grins.

"I accept that, Kiera Grey, now I have a mission for you."

Elizabeth

Cassia is gone. As soon as she said she would fight for Ryder, he set her free and they left together. That means Easton has a brother and a sister that he didn't tell me about. I wonder why Ryder so eagerly wanted her allegiance that he was willing to kill his only leverage?

I snap my eyes open at the sound of a scream. A scream I know well. The scream that I heard oh so many times at the carnival and at sleepovers.

"Sadie!" I cry. "Sadie!" I try to get to her. I pull at the restraints as hard as I can but nothing happens. Oh Lila, how I miss you.

"Lizzy! Lizzy!" Sadie says as they shove her into the cell that Cassia once occupied. The guards don't chain her to the wall, because she isn't a werewolf and their is no need to. She gets a punch to the stomach after attempting to knee one the guards in the crotch.

I growl so loud everyone flinches. How did I growl without Lila? It must be a thing all werewolves and tigers learn how to do without realizing that they know how.

"Don't you dare put another fucking hand on her!" I say. The guards flinch once again and release Sadie. They quickly leave her cell, locking it behind them. Then they are gone. Now it is just me and my best friend.

"How did you get here Sadie? What happened? Is Easton okay?" I ask hurriedly. My heart is beating so fast it feels like it's vibrating in my chest. My hands shake and my toes feel clammy.

"They took me. They broke into the pack house while Carson, Easton and Nathan were investigating someone for your kidnapping. They had me. I couldn't do anything." Sadie begins to cry. "They killed her! They shot Corinne in the head! She's gone."

At this, I cry out and sob as well. Corinne is dead because of me. I'm the one that got both of them into this mess, and I couldn't get them out like I promised I would.

I guess I can add this to my list of failures that I will one day pay for.
