Sydney's POV
"Everyone, time for dinner!" I heard my mother call to me as the scent of steak, mashed potatoes, and a side of vegetables and fruits warm my nose.
"Okay, coming mom!" I yelled back as texting Janae, my best friend, telling her that dinner was ready for me.
I got up from my bed, let my phone allow itself to get a higher percentage than 27, and left my room to go downstairs to enter the dining room.
There, sitting on the table, was steak, mashed potatoes, with gravy showered over them, and a couple of different types of berries along with vegetables.
"Wow mom, this looks good," I allow myself to inhale the aroma, "It smells good too."
"Well, thank you, dear," I heard my mom replied to me as she was preparing a little bit of more food for my 7 membered family.
As I sat down and started to enjoy my food, I heard footsteps come down the stairs.
Rebecca's POV
"Hey, Sydney, you should help out mom," I called out to Sydney while walking into the dining room.
She was my younger sister. The second youngest of all my siblings.
"Huh? Oh hey, Rebecca. Yeah, yeah, I know," Sydney slightly laughed as she answered me. I was walking closer to sit down next to her.
"Hey. How are you?" I asked.
"Oh, I'm good. What about you?" She answered.
"Well..." I answered kind of hesitant as I looked up to my mother, who was bringing the final plate over.
"Go ahead, tell her," I heard my mother say to me, with a reassuring, but sad, smile.
