Chapter Twenty Five: Not on my mind anymore

"It's been a week Caroline, call him." Clara said as Caroline stared at the phone "Fine I'll call for you." she said reaching for the phone

Caroline set her hand on Clara's "No, just don't." she said taking her hand off Clara's

"Are you two fighting?" her brunette friend asked

"No, it's just." she trailed off sighing "It's complicating I suppose."

"Complicating how?" She asked interested

Caroline breathed out angrily "It's just complicating Clara, you don't have to know everything all the time." she snapped

Clara's eyes widened "Calm down Care if you don't want to tell me, that's fine I understand."

"I'm sorry Clara." Tears welled up in Caroline's blue eyes "I've just been angry ever since I got home."

"What do you think is wrong?" Clara asked slowly hoping Clara wouldn't have another burst of anger

The blonde shrugged "I'm not sure, I guess there's probably just a lot on my mind."

"Oh I get it, okay listen to me Caroline. You are an amazing, beautiful, funny women who is strong as can be and James will not be with another girl while you're away." she explained

"But what if he does?" she asked her blue eyes showing sadness

Clara shrugged "Then he is a moron."

"Thanks for the talk Clara." Caroline laughed leaning back on the chair

"Any time my love." she grinned

On her short walk home, Caroline looked around the city of New York. It seemed so much different to her then before. The skyscrapers caught her eye all the time but, today she could care less about the tall buildings. Mostly because a blinding flashing light went off. Followed by a ton more and shouting men.

"Caroline! Caroline over here." one man yelled taking a picture of her

"Where's James? Have you two broke it off?" another man yelled the click of a camera went off

Putting her head down, she tried to get past them but that wasn't going to happen. So she decided to be polite and ask them to move "Can you move out of my way please?" she asked sweetly that was no help for her either

"Are you aware that James is spending an awful lot of time with his ex Adeline?" a younger male paparazzi asked

Caroline's mouth dried and her throat closed a bit as she held her tears in. She made her way home finally after twenty more questions were thrown at her, but, she didn't answer any of them.

"Where have you been?" Alan asked when Caroline entered the house

"Out." she replied walking to her room where she pulled out her iPad to look up those so called rumors of James with his ex girlfriend "They can't be true." she muttered to herself clicking on the search button.

A lot of pages showed with tons of pictures the top hit was E! News. Breathing out she clicked on the link. Her blue eyes scanned down the page taking in every word.
