Chapter Thirty One; Somethings Different

"You're birthday is in a week Caroline." James brought the subject up at dinner the next night.

"What about it?" Caroline asked

He shrugged "I was just wondering what you'd want to do."

"I just want a small party with my close friends I guess." she answered

James nodded his head "How about we go back to New York for awhile. We can have the party there if you want."

"That'd be amazing!" Caroline smiled brightly

"Good because we leave tonight." he smiled back

After dinner they boarded their plane to New York. James stopped occasionally to sign a few autographs and Caroline posed with a few girls for pictures which neither of them minded.

A few hours later they landed in New York where paparazzi awaited their arrival. As usual James had a protective hand on Caroline back guiding her through the crowd.

"Can we paint the walls?" Caroline asked looking at the plain white walls "This place needs color."

"Do whatever you want." James shrugged plopping down on the couch tiredly "I want to sleep though for a few days."

Caroline smiled at him "We can sleep I'm a little exhausted myself."

Two days later the pair were painting the house. Each room was a different color. Blues,purples and tans coated the walls.

"Care are you alright?" James asked pausing for a brief moment painting the walls

"Yeah I'm fine." she shrugged grabbing her head before sitting on the floor "Or maybe not so much." she muttered

Her worried boyfriend rushed to her side "Go sit down in the kitchen and I'll finish up."

"Are you sure?" she asked rubbing her temples.

James kissed her head "Yes I'm sure now go on." he nodded his head to the kitchen

Caroline got off the floor with the help of James and walked out to the kitchen. She decided to call the doctors and make an appointment since she hadn't been feeling well lately. She thought it was due to all the flying she'd done recently.

"You don't look to good Caroline. Maybe you caught something." James said walking into the kitchen half an hour later "Get in bed and I'll make you some soup or something."

"No it's fine, I'm perfectly fine." she said reassuringly touching his arm.

He looked at her for a moment "If you say so." he sat next to her staring at her as if it was the first time they met

"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked nervously

"It's just, you look a little different." he said

Caroline laughed "I haven't changed to much except my hair that's it."

"No, there's something else." James explained "Maybe I'm just now noticing how amazing it is to have you."

"You're a dork." she retorted

"And you're an angel." he shot back smiling "I love you Caroline."

Caroline smiled "I love you too." She leaned in and connected their lips that same magnificent spark there as before.

"How excited to be turning TwentyFour in less then a week now?" he asked later that night as the pair laid in bed.

The blonde groaned "Don't mention my birthday or age please."

"Don't be a drag Care!" James laughed combing his fingers through her hair "It'll be fun."

"I've never had a good birthday. So therefore I'll be a drag." she stuck her tongue out childishly

Rolling his brown eyes James pulled his girlfriend closer on the bed to him "You'll have a good birthday." he reassured her

Caroline fell asleep moments later. Her soft breathing filled the silent room as James laid awake planing Caroline birthday out in his head.

That next morning the beautiful blonde woke up earlier, leaving James a note telling him she was going out. She left the house driving to her doctors.

Entering the building she told the nurse her name who called her back moments later. The doctor came in after the nurse took Caroline height and weight.

"Hello Caroline." Dr Mendez smiled

"Hello." Caroline replied playing with her bracelet.

Sitting at the computer he looked up at Caroline "So you haven't been feeling well I hear. How long has this been going on?" he questioned

"Probably two months now." she replied as he wrote that down

"I see, now are you sexually active Caroline?" He asked

Squirming in her seat Caroline nodded "Yes I am."

After writing that down Dr Mendez stood up "I'll call the nurse in, we'll run a blood test and see what we can find."

Caroline got her blood taken rather fast, once they were done the nurse smiled and said if they found anything she would get a call.

"Make sure you call that list I emailed you." James said to Clara on the phone

"Okay James I've got it." she sighed annoyed "Now please leave me be to do my amazing work."

The front door opened and closed revealing Caroline "Hey, sorry I'm back so late."

"No it's fine." James shook his head "So did you know my brother and your friend Clara have been seeing each other?"

"Oh my god what?" she asked smiling "Thats so great!"

He nodded "Yeah, I guess Seth introduced them. Its good though he's got a good girl."

A few short hours later Caroline phone rang "Hello?" she answered

"Caroline this is Dr Mendez, we received your blood test and I'm happy to inform you that you're pregnant." his cheerful voice filled her ears

She blinked her eyes "How far along exactly?" she asked

"Two months and ten days." he replied.

"O-okay thank you." she hung up the phone breathing in and out.

James was in the other room with no clue what was going on. She knew she had to tell him she just didn't know how to. Until she figured it out, no one had to know and she would make sure of it.
