Chapter 15

Chapter 15 -

I widened my eyes, scared of the hand that controlled my inner thoughts. I kicked the man holding me in the shin. At least, I assume it was a man by the size of the hand.

The hand opened the door of a car and pushed me inside. The door shut behind me. Someone jumped into the driver's seat next to me.

I looked up to see Jake.

"Jake?" I asked.

"Yah, sorry I had to pull you out of there like that, but I couldn't let anyone hear or see you go out with me," Jake said, rubbing his leg.

"Oh, sorry about that by the way," I referred to his leg.

"That's okay. What a rush," Jake started the car.

"Yah, why couldn't you be seen with me?" I asked.

"It's not that I didn't want to be seen with you. I just didn't want to get spotted again," Jake answered.

I nodded like I understood.

Later, we arrived at Central Park.

"Oh. No." Jake panicked.

"What?" I asked.

Jake pointed towards a fountain across the park. There was a couple sitting on the park bench next to it.

You'll never guess what couple was sitting on the bench. Megan and Dylan.

I slouched down in my seat as low as possible.

"What should we do?" I started freaking out.

"Here," Jake reached into the back seat and handed me his fedora.

"Put these on too," Jake handed me his sunglasses.

"What about you?" I asked.

"You take the car back to my hotel and I'll have my driver pick me up," Jake handed me a room key and his car keys, "It's room 721 at Plaza Suites."

Plaza Suites is the nicest hotel in New York. Huge rooms, big beds, big tvs, big food, and big everything.

"You want me to drive your car?" I asked.

"Do we have any other choice?" Jake stepped out of the car, not waiting for an answer.

I climbed over into the driver's seat and started the car. I slowly backed up the car.

Jake ran over to a group of girls playing soccer. He started talking and all of the girls swarmed around him.

Megan got up and ran over to him. She had her back to me, a perfect time to escape.

Once I arrived at the hotel, I had one of the valet workers park the car and I rode the elevator upstairs.

Jake's suite was huge. It had a large flat screen tv, a sofa, a deck, a kitchen, and 2 rooms. This suite probably costs more than my life. I'm surprised that he's not staying in a penthouse. Part of his cover, I guess.

Like any regulars from New York could afford to stay here. Only the rich and famous people stayed here.

Suddenly, I heard someone messing with the lock in the door. I ran over to the kitchen and ran into the pantry. I cracked the door behind me just as someone walked in.

"Wow!" I heard a familiar voice say.

"I know, right?" a manly voice replied.

I looked through the crack in the door to see Megan and Dylan.

Oh no. If Megan finds me here, she'll start asking questions.

I pulled out my phone so I could text Jake.

Suddenly, my phone started buzzing. It was Jake.

I clicked "Ignore".

"Did you hear something?" Megan asked Dylan.

"I don't know," they both sat on the couch.

My phone buzzed. I had a new text message from Jake.

From Jake:
Hey, I'm on my way up.

Oh. No. I have to warn Jake. Megan can't figure out about him.

I clicked "Reply".

To Jake:
No. You can't. Megan and Dylan are here.

I was just about to click "Send" when my screen went black and an apple appeared on the screen.

Just great. My phone's dead. What should I do?

It got quiet in the living room. I leaned my head on the door to see if I could hear anything.

The door swung open and I fell on the floor. I quickly recovered and slid behind the counter.

"What was that?" I heard Megan get up from the couch.

Megan and Dylan's footsteps got closer and closer. I slid around the counter to the other side, just as Megan walked around the corner. Dylan gave me a strange look when he saw me crawling around to the other side of the counter, but he quickly reacted.

He grabbed Megan and kissed her. He pulled her over to the living room and onto the couch. He kissed her again and waved me out.

I gave him a thumbs up and ran out the door and into Jake.
