~Chapter 8 Congratulations~
*11:30pm*
I finished my Trifle. I made 2 trifles in glass cups.
"Done." I said.
"Same," He replied. We put our dish on the kitchen table. He made 2 drinks in a stemmed cocktail glass. Jace, Alex and Christian were working on their laptops and signing papers.
"I'll try your drink,"
"I'll try the trifle." He said. I took a sip.
"It's good, but missing that fruity taste."
"The trifle is good too but it's not creating different flavors. I can only taste Berries. It's missing the tropical theme."
"I'll remake the trifle,"
"I'll re-do the drink."
"Try Pineapple and Mango. Use both."
"Okay. Use the berries but add in coconut and banana,"He said. We nodded and went back to work. I adjusted the measurements and recipe and re made it.*12:30 p.m*
"Done," We said. We put our new dishes on the table. He made 2 drinks. I made 2 mini trifles. I tasted the drink. I closed my eyes.
Suddenly a memory of Grandma and I on the beach floated into my train of thoughts. I was 6. Grandma and I were walking along the beach. We played in the water and made sandcastles. Then we went to a fruit stand and got mixed fruit popsicles. I dropped it on the ground and started crying. Then grandma bought me a new one. I smiled and happily ate it. After that we went back to her bakery. She was making a coconut and berry parfait. I was eating blueberries and bananas. Then I heard a scream. Uncle and I ran into the kitchen and found her laying on the ground. She died. Right there. Uncle held me close as I cried. It seemed like I had cried for days on end. Until finally Mom showed up and took me away to live here. With her. Then one day at the park I met him. He changed my world. I miss him.
"BLYTHE!" Nick shouted. I opened my eyes. I touched my cheeks. I was crying.
"What's wrong? Is it that bad?" Christian laughed."No. I just remembered a memory," I laughed.
"What memory," Nick asked.
"A memory of my grandma," I smiled.
"What was it about?" Alex asked.
I told him about the memory and he looked at me.
"Do you miss your grandma," Nick asked.
"Of course I do. I lived with her for 6 years. They were the best 6 years of my life. I'll never forget the sweets and foods she made. Her cooking was always the best, I'll never forget her Blueberry Tart and her amazing Spanish dishes. Or even how she would take her walking tacos and drown them in sour cream then feed it to me. Making that my favorite dish. Every dish she made had a different type of flavor and unique twist to it. You'd always expect a surprise," I smiled.
"Sounds like an amazing grandma," Nick said.
"She was the best. I loved her then and I love her now. Thanks to your drink I remembered this memory. It's perfect," I smiled.
"I could say the same about your Trifle. It made me remember my favorite memory of going to the beach," He smiled. I smiled.
"So this is the dish or no?" I asked. He looked at me.
"I think we can come up with about 2 more. These 2 dishes will be made by us two only. Then the other 2 dishes by the intermediate group. We'll help them come up with 2 dishes and help them perfect it like we did with these 2," He said. I nodded. I looked at the time.
