Ashley let out a sighed. "Well, I guess it's okay to me. At least I know that you're not a lesbian." She joked. "You think I'm a lesbian?!" I reacted
"Yeah.. I know you for two years and I haven't seen you dated anyone." I caught my head in my palm. "Oh, Ashley.."
On sixth period, that is Chemistry. Mr. Darwin, my preceptor, asked me to get some apparatus for our experiment at the laboratory near to senior's building.
On my way to the second floor where the laboratory is located, a strong arm pulled me. I started to struggle from his tight gripped until I heard a loud curse after my tongue got contact to his hand that's covering my mouth.
"You should be thankful I love you. If not, I would've tackled you to the ground for doing that." Carter said as he washed his hand on the faucet.
"Stupid Carter. Don't pull me like that." I said as I wiped the invisible dust off my skirt. Carter stared down at me, "Mr. Darwin asked you to get the apparatus, huh?" I nodded.
"I never liked to study the science that deals with the composition, structure, and properties of substances and with the transformations that they undergo." I looked at him puzzled.
"You know, the composition and chemical properties of a substances?". My expression hasn't change. "Duhhh, chemistry???" My eyes widen. How stupid of me , of course it's what he's talking about. How idiotic, that's clearly the definition of Chemistry.
Carter laughed at my flushed face. "You carry the light materials and I'll carry the heavy one." He offered and I gladly took it. It will lessen the time consumed.
And as Carter and I walked in the classroom all eyes are all filled with bewilderment as they saw Carter holding the equipments. "Good afternoon, Mr. Darwin." He greeted.
"Oh! Mr. Grant. I'm happy to see you helping her." He commented. "Yeah. I'm pleased to help Monique. Since none of your male students are gentleman enough to help such a beautiful lady." He said as his eyes holds sincerity and adoration to me.
"Oh yes, you are correct." He said, that clearly held irritation. Mr. Darwin is absolutely not a nice teacher. He easily get irritated around people who pointed out his mistakes.
The class ended. Ashley offered to drive me home but Carter refused for me. He took my hand to his and asked me to get in his car.
"So, for two years Ashley offer you a lift to your house?" He asked. "Yeah, a lift on my dad's house. Ashley doesn't know anything about the house your mom gave me."
"So, what will she say if she finds out that we're..uhh ‛Engaged‛?" I fidgetted. Getting nervous. Carter's hand held mine tightly. "It's okay. We'll tell her, 'kay?" I nodded.
Carter is always been a nice and understanding person. He's the opposite of Alexander. Alex was a bit egoistic. He doesn't care if he's stepping on somebody. Maybe this marriage isn't so bad since it's Carter.
The next few weeks, Alex still doesn't showed up. He isn't home and Carter didn't say anything about him. I don't really know if this is a good thing or not.
"Carter," I called before he stepped out his car."mmm?"
"Am I that easy to get?" He chuckled. "To be honest, you're difficult. Good difficult."
"I know this is hard for you. And I'll help you adjust on this kind of thing. Trust me." He said as he planted a kiss on my forehead. Carter took me to my first class. And like these past few days all my fellow students have curious eyes. They're all suspicious.
After my third period, I was glad that it was lunch time. And my only escape from all the chatty student who doesn't know anything but to gossip about my relationship with Carter. We're the biggest headline in the academy, you know.
"Trying to escape?" I should've known better I might escape everyone but not one particular person. My best friend, Ashley Green. "No. no. I was.. uh... looking for you." She raised an eyebrow. "Really? looking for me or CARTER?" She scoffed.
"Explain." She commanded. "I will. But first lets look for Carter. " She looked at me, confused but followed.
