Days go by quickly and summer vacation is near. I made plans with Ashley and her boyfriend, Drake. Yes, she got a boyfriend after Alexander brushed her off. It was hilarious, really. Ashley make a fool out of herself. Still, Ashley and Alexander are cool.
"I'll drive you home." Alexander offered since Ashley is busy. "Sure, I'll just go and fix my things." I started putting my stuff on my bag.
"Did Carter and Monique broke up?"
"Guess so. What do you expect on long distance relationship? Maybe Carter got a new girlfriend there."
"Poor, Monique."
"Don't think so. She's hitting on Alexander. Maybe she's the problem not him"
It goes on and on and on. Being close with Alexander made the people around us judgemental. They think that something is going on between us.
Carter.
Last time I talked to Carter was before my midterm exam that is two months ago. I never heard from him anymore. I tried asking Alexander if he got news from him but he said Carter never contact him.
I keep on thinking that he's just busy. But something tells me there is something wrong.
"What's your plan for summer vacation?"
"Ashley and Drake asked me to join them on their trip in Monte Carlo." I stared ahead.
"What? They'll take you as their chaperone?. Moe, you'll get bored." Alexander said as he sped up.
"But there's nothing for me to do. At least I can travel alone." He nodded.
As we arrived I packed my things. "How long are you going to stay there?"
"Two weeks? Maybe a month? Hey, what about you? What's your plan?"
"Maybe I'll go to Machu Picchu. I think you should come with me instead." I held up a finger. "Sorry, I already made plans."
"When are you going?"
"The day after tomorrow." He nodded.
After Alexander left, I kept on calling Carter but he didn't pick up. At my last call he finally picked up. "Hello?"
"Thank goodness, Carter. I've been calling you for—"
"Sorry, I'm busy." Then he hang up on me.
I was feeling down. I just want to tell him how I miss him. I don't have to be acting so stupid. I'll just enjoy in Monte Carlo. Suddenly, my phone rings.
"Hello?"
"It's me Evan." I was startled by my caller. "What do you want?"
"Come to the lobby now. We need to talk." I obeyed. As the lift's door opened, I saw Evan holding numerous bags. "What are you holding?"
"Aye, sis!! I bought you all sort of clothes and foods, as peace offering." Evan smiled and my face lit up. "All of that? for me? Are you sure, Evan?" He nodded and I hugged him. I should really forgive him. He hadn't done anything wrong to me.
"Thank you so much, Evan."
"Let's bring this to your floor and we'll eat somewhere else.
I stepped in his car after we placed all my new stuff in my flat. "Any plans for summer vacation?"
"I'm going to Monte Carlo with Ashley and her boyfriend." He skeptically looked at me. "What about your boyfriend Carter?"
"Sorry. I shouldn't have bring that up." He apologized due to my lack of respond. "Anyway, being alone with couples are.. sort of lonely."
"It's fine. I can have some time on my own, thinking and considering things."
"What is there to think over?" I smiled. "Things with Carter. To tell you the truth, he haven't contact me since last two months. And people at school are making false statements that I broke up with Carter."
"I've known Carter since childhood and I know he isn't the type of guy who plays with girl's heart. But after hearing this from you, I was confused."
He park the car in Phil's Cuisine. A five star restaurant. "Isn't this your step dad's restaurant?"
"Dad wants to meet you. I hope you're cool with it?"
"Of course."
He guided me to a private table. There is a woman beside Phil Regalia. I assumed that was his mother. She looked very lovely in her royal blue dress, green eyes and curly brunette hair.
"Monique Bellus, it's nice to finally meet you." Phil greeted. "Me too, Phil." My eyes landed to his woman.
"I'm Louisa, Evan's mother and your mother's sister."
"Does this mean you're not just a brother but a cousin as well?" Evan nodded. "Wow, we had a very strong bond. So, nice to meet you, Aunt Louisa."
"Please just call me, Louisa. About what happened in the past—"
"Let's all forget about it and move on." I feel bitter. Saying that we should forget about it and move on. How can I possibly move on when all that happens caused my mother's death?
