You looked nervously at your watch and hoped that this wouldn't be a disaster. Kara had told you to meet her at an alien bar and you'd agreed and you were starting to regret it, but if you could face that horrible year in high school after your sister was put into prison by Supergirl, you could face a dinner with Kara's friends and family.

"Y/n, this is Alex my sister, her fiancee Maggie, my friends Winn and James, and this is J'onn." Kara said and you shook their hands. "Guys, this is Y/n, my girlfriend."

"An upgrade from Mon-El I see." J'onn said and you knew what'd happened between them and how difficult it was for her to see you. How difficult it had been for her to go on that date with you after leaving you for him. "You must be who she's been thinking about all this time."

"You promised not to read my mind!" Kara said and J'onn gave her a look. "Okay, I guess it wasn't the quietest place, but personal space."

"Um, I'm going to get a drink." You said walking towards the bar before being stopped by Kara. "It wasn't going to be alcohol."

"Yeah, no." Kara said before going to the bar, leaving you alone with practical strangers.

"So, what do you do for a living?" James asked you, trying to ease the tension.

"I work for Cat Grant." You said and he nodded. "I'm kind of her assistant, but also kind of not."

"That's cool." Winn said and you nodded. "Cat's a really nice person once you get away from all that intimidation."

"Yeah, she actually approached me. I mean, her son probably had something to do with it, but it was still really cool of her, especially since my sister was kind of in the news for some bad stuff." You said and Winn was about to ask who she was, everyone always did. They either asked who she was or why you looked familiar. "Livewire."

"Oh, I didn't know that." Alex said and you nodded. "What was it like, growing up with her?"

"She was great, sure she did some bad stuff, but it doesn't change who she is inside. I mean, she accepted me when I told her what I was." You said and Alex gave you a confused look. "She didn't run when I said I was meta."

"What's your power?" J'onn asked and grabbed Winn's drink and set the top of it on fire before putting it out. "That's very impressive, perhaps you could work with us to help advance some of our technology. I'm sure Alex would love to incorperate that in our weapons, perhaps you could become a hero?"

"I'm no Superman." You said and Kara came back with a bottle of Pepsi for you. "I mean, I'd love to fight crime, it sounds awesome, but Guardian did that and the city believed he did more harm than good. They'd see I'm meta, people would figure out who I am, and they'd throw me in jail for something. Say I'm no better than my sister, tell me I'm worse for trying to help."

"That's not true." Kara said and you gave her a look, knowing it was 100% true. "Okay, but I'm sure that if the president were to pronounce you a national hero, they wouldn't."

"Yeah, like that would ever happen." You said and Kara gave you a look. "Okay, stop with the looks. I get you don't like my pessimistic outlook on life, but normally in my case, I'm right. The last thing I need is CADMUS using me for something horrible."

"They won't, trust me." Kara said kissing you.

"And if they do, we'll be here to make sure they don't get far." J'onn said and you smiled. "Now, how about you stop by the DEO sometime and we'll talk with the president and if she thinks its a good idea, you'll be a superhero?"

"Totally." You said and everyone around you clapped.

"Definitely an upgrade from Mon-El." J'onn said and Maggie high fived you.

"Welcome to the Space dad arrpoved club." She said and you smiled slightly.
