Falling (Kara Danvers)

You sat at the bar, nursing a gin martini. You'd been fighting with Kara. To be completely honest you didn't remember why you were fighting, just that you were. You hated it when you were fighting with Kara. She was everything to you and fights were the easiest way to lose somebody important to you. Just as you were about to order another one, you were lifted from your bar stool and carried over somebody's shoulder outside. When you were put down, you threw up beside a trash can. 

"Come on," Alex said, pushing you into a car. She drove you to the DEO, rinsed your mouth out with water, and then watched amused as you drunkenly brushed your teeth. After you were cleaned up a bit, she sent you into a conference room where Kara was sitting at a table. The door was shut and locked from the outside, meaning you were stuck in there with her. 

"I've been worried sick, where have you been?" Kara asked and you just scoffed as you sat down. "Are you drunk right now?" 

"No, I've just had a lot to drink," you argued and Kara just exhaled angrily. "Calm down, what I do with my nights isn't your business Kara." 

"I'm your girlfriend, it kind of is," Kara said and you noticed her gaze on you soften a bit. "You do remember why we're fighting right?" 

"No, six martinis and a girl tends to forget that," you said and Kara began to move towards you. "Do you remember why we're fighting? I just remember that we're fighting and I don't like it. I love you a lot and when we're fighting you don't love me." 

"It's not important, we aren't fighting anymore," Kara said and you smiled, kissing her sloppily. "Can we talk though?" 

"Yeah, anything," you said and Kara sat down on the floor. You ungracefully slid down the wall and slumped over, your head resting on her shoulder. "What do you want to talk about?" 

"If you were to hypothetically tell me that you wouldn't fall for me, why would that be?" 

"Because I don't like falling in love. I want people to fall in love with me because when I do it, they run away. Eventually I just stop wanting to fall, so I make myself start to hate people because if you lose somebody you don't love, it doesn't hurt," you said and Kara nodded. "But with you, I think I fell without realizing it. Falling for you wasn't like falling for anybody else. With you, it's amazing and it feels more like I'm flying after a while." 

"I love you," Kara said and you smiled widely at her. 

"I love you too."
