Chapter 17

Vall Pov

"Hey", Daniel said walking towards me as I stood there rooted to my place. All the time he walked I didn't take my eyes off him, I didn't even blink for the fear that I would lose him or he would simply disappear in the thin air.

Daniel now stood in front of me, and I replied back "Hi" which came out soft.

"So, how are you?" Daniel asked giving me a look over.

I blushed slightly. By now I had recovered from my shock. I looked at him, smiled slightly and replied ,"Good".

"What about you. Everything's good?"

"Yea" Daniel said smiling. The smile for which I could easily get addicted.

After that none of us had anything to say. We simply looked at each other, smiling. It felt like hours standing there, simply looking at him, it felt like I knew him very well, even though I had met him once  last week. Just then Daniel's phone rang and we lost our sweet moment of silence. He pulled out his phone, excusing himself for which I nodded.

"Yea, I'll be right there" Daniel replied to whoever was on the other end of the line. That sentence made my heart sink. I wished I had a gun then, I wanted to shoot whoever was on the other end.

Why is that every time I make some contact with Daniel, some one walks in? I thought.

Daniel pulled his phone away from his ear and smiled at me. This is it, I thought. This is where Daniel tells me he's busy, needs to go and walks away from me.

But Daniel surprised me by saying something else. "Looks like the coffee your holding is turning cold." He said.

I noticed the Starbucks coffee I was holding. I was so messed up thinking about everything that was happening in my life, that I stopped drinking my precious coffee.

"Oh" was all I could reply to that. I blushed slightly, realizing that some time back I was thinking of him and here he is, standing in front of me.

"There's a store around the corner. They make this amazing coffee, and the breakfast is to die for. Wanna come?" Daniel asked me. The working part of my brain, shouted at me to say 'yes'. But the shocked part of my brain had overtaken the working part, and hence I stood there gawking at him like a mad goose.

"Unless you have some thing else?" Daniel asked noticing my silence. His eyes showed sudden longing or may be I imagined it. Because no sooner had I seen it then it was gone.

"I'd love to" I replied nodding in his direction.

"Whoa... I mean yea. This way" Daniel said beaming at me.

We walked five steps side by side without talking or even making an eye contact. All this while I counted the number of steps we walked. I threw my now cold coffee into the dust bin I found near by.

"You know, I am glad you didn't finish your coffee. Other wise you would have backed out on my offer" Daniel said laughing.

"No, I wouldn't have, even if I drink a straight 100 cups of coffee, I would have agreed for an extra cup for you." was the reply I wanted to give. But then I didn't want to look desperate or clingy so I played along.

"May be" I replied laughing along.

"You work near by" Daniel asked looking at me.

"Yea, three blocks from here" I replied pointing him the direction which I had to take to reach my office. By now we had reached the entrance of the dine-in Daniel had talked about. I knew about this place, the pan cakes here were to die for. Stacey loved the cakes they sell here and so we ended most of the time here.
