The Love Assignment

Chapter 15

My day couldn't have turned any more worse. I know that Alex borrowed Stacey's dress and wore it for my sake, to help me, but this help has started to turn disasterous. Alex did the unthinkable. He spoilt Stacey's dress, and that's the worst thing any one could do to get Stacey on his or her wrong side. Stacey is so mad about her collections that she never let's anyone close by,  infact she doesnt even let me, her best friend for life go near her dress collection . There was this particular time when she even broke up with her then boyfriend just because he talked rude about her dress collection, and now Alex had the guts to spoil the dress.

Added to the misery, Daniel left me with not so much as a 'bye'. I felt broke, the first guy I almost lost myself to, just walked away.

I couldnt stay any longer, and so both Alex and me, made our way to the exit.

As we pushed ourselves through the crowd, Alex kept asking me for details, and I had only one reply.... Silence.

"Hey, you okay?"

"Is this about the dress, you know I could replace it."

"Val, talk to me"

"Hey, did something happen"

"Something did happen didn't it, Vall did you meet anyone?".

"Did anyone hurt you, I'll kick that moron right in his nuts, my heels would come in handy now."

"Vall?"

"Vallerie, say something, anything"

" Is this about Kyle, you know he deserved what he got, you should not feel sad for him."

"Your still silent, it means its not about Kyle, may be its the dress?"

"Vallerie Walter's please reply"

"You know, when you share your pain, it reduces. Who were searching for?"

"No one, so what happened?" I replied after his tenth or so question. Bright lights hit our faces when we walked past the swaying crowds. Music filled my ears, there were people everywhere. Every step I took made me feel like I was walking away from something special. All I could see was chaos, and all through the chaos my heart yearned for one last look. If only I could see him one last time....

BAM

Few seconds back I was on my two feet, walking straight, and now I was on the ground and my nose stung with pain.

Everything around me started to spin, the lights and the shadows of people all mixed into paints smudged on a canvas. And then I felt myself hit the ground. Well, at this point anyone expects a handsome guy to break your fall, infact a small part of my heart hoped it was true, I hoped it to be Daniel. But nothing happened, I was right where I had to be, on the ground, trying to push myself up, from the nasty fall. I had walked straight into the exit door, the bouncers stood around me, while Alex kept rubbing the small bump that happened to grow on my fore head.

"Watch where your going Vall, you okay?" Alex asked between all the rubbing.

I was still dazed, shocked by the sudden occurrence of things. I felt my nose, and was quite happy that I didn't break it.

"You okay Miss, if you require any medical attention, this way please" said one of the bouncers.

" I am good, thanks." I replied softly, trying to give him my best smile of assurance.

"You sure?" Alex asked quizzingly. He lifted my face, examining the bump that stood out.

"Ya, I am good, let's go." I said to Alex, moving my face away from his hand.

"How many are these?" He asked showing two fingers in front of me.

"A million and a half, shall we go now" I said cheerfully, pulling him along with me. Alex tripped here and there over his dress, as we made our way out.

"Carefull now, I've already got a huge package to pay" Alex said. I laughed loudly, letting free of his hand, and that's when I noticed he had removed the hair on his hand.

"You just did not", I squeeled loudly pointing at his hand.

"Stacey's idea. I've gotta wear full sleeved shirts until they grow up", he said pouting like a girl.

"Stop, don't do that", I said giggling at his pout.

"What this?" Alex replied, pouting even more.

I laughed harder, at his fake pout. He looked so much a women, with his lips painted red and his fake pout. I had to agree with the other guys in the pub. Alex resembled a women in every way, with all the dressing, makeup and hair, well except for the lose end at his right side, where his supposed balloon should be there.

Never would I have imagined that a guy like Alex would go to such an extent to ask for my forgiveness. Alex the guy whom I had judged as playboy, proved me wrong, proved me that deep down all the demeanor he's maintained, he cares for his friends. And so without another thought I hugged him.

Initially Alex seemed shocked, but later warmed up and hugged me back.

"Thanks for everything", I said smiling into his chest.

"This includes the fall too right", Alex said chuckling. I swatted his shoulder hard, and laughed along.

We stood there holding each other, when I heard someone call my name loud.

"Oh there you are"

I lifted my head up to figure out the source of sound. That's when I noticed Daniel, running in between the parked cars to reach us. While he ran, I stood there holding Alex's hand, gaping at Daniel.

"I thought I.. I missed you", Daniel said taking in huge breaths from all the running.

"I... I.. Daniel, I thought u left." I replied, words coming out slowly.

"Well, I didn't, my client she was intoxicated and I had to help her out. Currently she's in my car. I came back for u, but I didn't find you in, and I..." Daniel went on to say more but just then we heard long horn.

Daniel turned around, waved at her, but she kept honking even more.

"I guess I don't have much time, but it was fun, you know spending time with you" Daniel said, his hand reaching out to his hair.

"Ya, me too", I replied. Alex stood behind me, taking in on our conversation. I turned back slightly, and found Alex smiling approvingly.

Just then one more horn sounded from the other end. Daniel looked back, and waved once again, silencing her temporarily.

"I don't have much time and I... I don't know how to say this but.... Vall its... "

"Yes"

The horn sounded again. By now Daniel seemed irritated. Infact I myself felt irritated. I wished I had a magic wand or a spell, a small spell enough to make her vanish.

Daniel broke my thoughts by speaking again.

"I know you've had a disasterous date or what ever u can call it today, but.. incase we meet again, consider it to be a date."

I simply stared at him, Daniel said it so fast, that half of me didn't believe what just happened. I simply looked ahead, while Daniel moved forward. That simple movement made my heart skip a beat. I thought he'd kiss me on my cheek but he did the unthinkable. Daniel moved to my right and spoke softly in my ears.

"Don't worry I won't fall for your friend", he  said looking at the fake Samantha aka Alex. I smiled slightly wondering if he would ever realise the hidden truth, and with that he ran towards his car leaving me behind with all my senses burning.
