Chapter 20

Twenty minutes had passed and there wasn't any sign of Daniel yet. I started fidgeting my hands, all the nervousness that I had controlled till now, pounced at me once for all. Usually the guy is made to wait but in my case, it's the other way round. Deep down I wondered if Daniel would ever come to take me out.

"What if you're fooled? Did u read the letter properly, was there really a word called DATE there" My subconscious questioned. I started breathing slowly trying to control the negative thoughts.

Thirty minutes and Daniel hasn't come. I checked my mobile to see if he had cancelled the date. If he knew my house, he'd also know my mobile number. By now Stacey's making coffee for the three of us. Alex looked like he's concentrating on the game but I knew that with every minute that passed he was getting more and more angry.

I thought I heard some one knock and so I walked towards the door and opened it. It's clearly my imagination. There isn't anyone in front of me. Sighing I walked back, tears threatened to pour out.

"He isn't coming, is he?" I asked softly looking at Alex.

"Who isn't coming?"

Someone asked from behind me. I gasped and turned around to see Daniel standing at my door, holding a bouquet of white and blue Cartesians.

I blushed slightly and Stacey had walked out of the kitchen holding two mugs. The smell of coffee invaded my nose but it's Daniel in front of me that looked more captivating.

"You're late." Alex stated, his eyes not leaving Daniel, anger evident in his voice.

"I got stuck picking up the flowers, apparently I still don't know which one's your favourite" Daniel said smiling apologetically at me.

"Oh, don't mind Alex, he can be arrogant at times" Stacey piped in.

"Hi, I am Daniel, Valerie's date" Daniel introduced. The words 'Valerie's date' sent tingling sensation down my stomach and made me blush.

"Alex and that's Stacey" Alex said shrugging his shoulders.

I felt like kicking Alex right there, right now in front of Daniel. For one's in his life he couldn't stop being his arrogant self.

"Don't mind him, you two start going already" Stacey said pushing me slowly forward.

Daniel smiled and gave me the bouquet which I took happily. After all, they are my favorites. I walked out and Daniel followed. Just as he was closing the door behind him, I heard Alex shouting.

"Don't do anything silly Mr Wellington, I don't mind killing you if you hurt her."

I gasped, and glared at Alex. How could he? Anger started cruising through me like fast spreading fire. I felt like walking in and hitting Alex with whatever I could lay my hands on. Stacey simply rolled her eyes and said "Don't mind him. You two have fun."

Daniel smiled at the both of them and we walked towards the elevator in silence. The ride down the elevator was completely silent. My cheeks turn red only in three situations, one: when I meet some one like Daniel, two: when I am embarrassed and three: When I am angry. And right now I am experiencing all the three situations simultaneously.

While Daniel achieved the first, Alex managed to achieve the second and third all by himself. I am completely angry on him and embarrassed by the way he spoke to Daniel.

"You look pretty when you blush" Daniel said smiling at me.

I looked at him, blushing even more, if that was ever possible. If there was a blushing contest, I am sure I would win it without a second guess. I smiled at Daniel. We walked out of the elevator and to the car that was waiting for us in the entrance. There in front of me was a black R8 Audi. My modest Honda Civic looked like a rat next to an overgrown lion. I simply stared at his car while walking slowly towards it. Daniel pulled my hand, making me stop in my tracks. He then opened the car door, bent low and gestured for me to get in. I laughed at him, feeling the blush creep into my cheeks. Once I was inside, he walked around and settled in the driver's seat.
