Chapter 18: Wake me Up

"White or red?" The wedding manager, Skylar asked. Her dainty hands held up the different colored roses.
"Isn't the bride supposed to be in charge of the flowers?" Niall chirped from his spot on the leather sofa next to Harry.
"Yes, but she has the flu and today is the day we scheduled for the flowers." Louis shot back, not even sparing a glance.
"How about a mix of both?" Louis questioned.
"So 6 red and 6 white in each dozen?" Skylar complied.
Louis nodded, and Skylar began to scribble on her clipboard.
Harry threw his head back, mentally and physically exhausted. He'd been dragged into this by Niall complained he didn't want to go alone, and then not even being a help. They'd been sitting here for hours just deciding between daisies, or roses. And the wedding was only in a week.
"Remind me again why I'm here Niall?" Harry said into Niall's ear, voice lowered.
"Because you're the best man, obviously."
Groaning, Harry checked his phone for what felt like the thousandth time. Unsurprised, he found no new notifications and grudgingly shoved it back into his pocket. Mind clattered with thoughts, he didn't hear the click of heels coming his way.
"I can't seem to figure out what you're here for." A smooth feminine voice slid through his ears.
"Best man, isn't it obvious?" Harry joked to himself, only half into the conversation.
"Not quite. I haven't even seen you two exchange looks, let alone words." She lightly laughed.
"We aren't necessarily on the best terms at the moment."
"But that'll be fixed by the wedding, I hope? It seems to be tearing you two apart." She seated herself on the couch, brushing her skirt down to cover her knees.
"Mm, not sure. It's kinda something bigger than that." He let the words slip out of him, suddenly with no filter.
"If you don't mind me asking, what was this 'thing'?"
"Well, I'd rather not say. He did avoid me for a year because of it though. So I'm pretty sure he's still upset" He sighed
"A lot can change in a year." She comforted, leaning back into the red plush.
"Believe me, I know that. I see him for the first time in a year and he's engaged and to be married in 9 days." Harry scoffed.
"That's a lot to drop on someone. Well, I'm sorry to bother you..." She trailed off, implying for him to state his name.
"Harry" He replied kindly.
"Well Harry, it was nice to meet you. I'd love to stay but I have another appointment. I'm Skylar and I wish you luck with being in love with Louis. Please make him change his mind." And with that, she clicked out of the appointment room.

"Hi" A small voice came from the back hall in Liam's house. From the light glowing from the kitchen he could make out a fairly tall skinny body and long wavy brown hair cascading down a woman's chest. She stepped out, her white converse shuffling against the dirty brown carpet as she seated herself onto the couch.
"Eleanor." Harry stated simply, tone flat and simple.
Eleanor was dressed in light washed skinny jeans, a plain white shirt that fitted her body, with a musky brown jacket and patterned green scarf.
