chapter 24: love like this

Harry heard the shower click off and the door open. Foot steps neared the room. Quickly he exited to his room, shutting the door silently.

His heart had been pounding so hard he was sure that Louis could hear it through the door. His foggy mind finally told him maybe he should see why Louis was. Leaning against the door, he strained to hear their conversation.

"No. I haven't and I'm not going to." Liam says, a sharp protective edge to his voice.

"You need to." Louis softly replied, "it's important he knows."

he? are they talking about him?

Shuffling sounds emitted through the door, harry suspected they sat down.

Liam sighed, "What time is it?"

"Um, half past 10, why?"

"You're getting married at 2:30 today. You best be on your way, before whoever you left to come here and waste your time starts to worry." Liam redirected the subject.

Harry zoned out as he got lost in his thoughts. It's hard to believe how fast he lost Louis. How fast he went from being his best friend, his everything to being nothing but a toy to toss around with.

Shakily he rose to stand, his breaths slowly evening out as he heard the front door shut. He heard Liam shuffled to his door and knock softly,

"Harry? you in there?"

"Yeah" Harry squeaked, before swallowing and trying again,

"Yeah. Um who was that?" He questioned, as he opened the door.

Liam's face contorted, as he shook his head silently, "No one important, I'm probably going to head out soon. I offered to help them set everything up. Are you good here by yourself for a bit? I'll be back after the ceremony."

Harry nodded, biting his cheek. Being alone was not the best situation he could be in right now, but he knew Liam needed to go to the wedding. He didn't want to be a bother.

"Okay. Well, I won't be leaving for a half hour or so." Liam replied, looking at his feet before excusing himself to finish getting ready.

Harry, not bothering to close his door, laid back on his bed. He missed Clair. He missed his Louis. He missed being happy.

He reached for his phone from the bedside table. He scrolled through his twitter feed, checked instagram, and then found himself entering his photos app.

When he had upgraded, he had requested all his photos from his previous phone be transferred to this one. Slowly he scrolled all the way to the top, the pictures from 2012 and 2013.

His fingers stopped on a drunken selfie from just a week or so before the accident. They were both smiling, Harry's a comically wide one. They both looked genuinely happy, Harry could hardly recognize himself.

But Louis looked so amazing. His eyes crinkled in Harry's favorite way. His smiled so wide it covered half his face. His skin so golden it looked as if the sun had just reached down and kissed him.

Harry wanted him. He wanted Louis to be his and only his, he wanted to mark him and kiss him all over. He wanted to be the one who made Louis smile like that, he wanted to spend forever and a day with him. He knew that would never happen, because in 2 hours, Louis would be getting married to another women, and Harry would be officially alone. he had no one.

sure he had the boys, but they weren't going to there forever. they'd soon realize, just as Louis had, just how pathetic he was and leave too. Harry didn't know if he could take losing anyone else.
