chapter 26: goodnight my angel

Harry was speaking to the receptionist, booking a room as she annoyingly explained what an inconvenience it is he didn't make reservations.

Louis stood behind Harry, close enough to feel his warmth but too far to touch. He glanced around the lobby, seeing a bar to his left and elevators to his right.

"Because of your lack of reservation we have limited conditions to offer," The receptionists pesky voice caught Louis' attention, "We only have rooms with one bed left. And they will be on the first floor."

Gruffly, Harry replied, "That's fine." As he handed her his credit card.

A man's dark brown eyes caught his from the bar. His stare sent shivers down his back, Louis' calm demeanor turned to panic. The man looked at him as though he was prey.

Louis instinctively backed up closer to Harry, until their shoulders were touching and Louis turned so his body was flat against Harry's side. Harry glanced at him but otherwise disregarded him.

The petite lady handed the key card over the desk, giving them a scoff before looking back down at her computer. Harry gently placed his hand on Louis' lower back, guiding him to the hallway.

Everywhere Harry's fingers touched him burned.

Vaguely Louis watched the numbers pass by, 112, 114, 116, before finally Harry stopped in front of 118. Harry inserted the key card, and motioned for Louis to enter first. Louis stumbled into the small but cozy room.

Without looking behind him, he hastily took off his tight black jeans, disregarding them to the floor near the bed. Leaving him in his sweater and boxers, he clambered onto the mattress, shoving himself under the fluffy white comforter and turned himself facing the wall.

He heard footsteps, but he couldn't decipher if they were nearing him. His question was answered when he heard the bathroom door click shut and the shower faucet run.

Snuggling himself up, he struggled to get comfortable. He was exhausted from his lack of sleep lately, but the tall man in the bathroom made him lie wide awake.

-
the midday light streamed in through the open blinds of the hotel room. Louis sat on top the cozy bed silently watching a cooking TV program as he waited for Harry to get out of the shower.

He'd already been in there two episodes worth of this show, and Louis was starting to get antsy.

The show was not particularly entertaining, and he was worried about what would come when Harry got out. Was Harry going to send back to the boys, so he could go to rehab?

Nervously, he started biting at his finger nails as he glanced over at the bathroom door. A towel had been shoved under the small open space between the floor and door, and Louis oddly noted this suspicious behavior.

As another commercial came on, Louis decided to check on Harry. He knocked lightly at first, then decided, given Harry was in the shower, he should increase the volume.

"Harry?" He yelled, anxiety growing in his stomach as the only response was the sound of water hitting tile.

"Harry? Are you okay?" He started pounding his fist. No answer.

Louis took a deep breath before attempting to open the door, trying to remind himself this was only to see if Harry was okay.

Surprisingly unlocked, Louis stepped into the steamed filled room. The shower curtain was pulled back, and Louis gulped loudly when he realized he couldn't see Harry's silhouette.
