7. The stars

Gaara's POV

Every day I saw (Y/n) she was with Naruto. They looked so happy together always smiling and laughing. Maybe they liked each other? The thought of them enraged you, but you manged to cool off. Naruto was your friend and even though you had only known (Y/n) for about a week your feelings for her grew stronger by the day. Naruto was a good guy, (Y/n) deserved someone like that. I watched them as they entered Ichiraku ramen, Naruto was always there and I guess they were on a date. I took deep breaths trying to calm my self, my hands rested on my thighs tightly gripping my pants. In and out, in and out. I calmed down and was about to leave but it was too late, Naruto had seen me.

Naruto POV

I had seen Gaara watching us so often this week. What was up with him? I had the chance to catch him out in front of Ichiraku ramen while (Y/n) and I were having dinner. She ate much as me, we definitely were related. I ran out of the shop over to Gaara, waving my hand and calling his name. "Gaara". He stepped forward, he looked kind of awkward and then when (Y/n) walked out of the shop his face changed. It did something I had never seen it do. Was he blushing? "Oh hey Gaara", called out (Y/n) as she came running over. "H-hey (Y/n)". (Y/n) also seemed to be blushing slightly, this was all adding up. The sleep talking and the blushing. Olala we have our selves a teenage romance. I stopped my self from laughing and handed (Y/n) the apartment key. "You can go back to the apartment if you want, its getting dark". She nodded and took the key from my hands. "OK I will  see you both later", she said smiling. I turned to Gaara and gave him a serious look. "We need to talk".

Gaara and I walked around the village as we spoke. He seemed uneasy and kind of angry, he was breathing really heavily and his hands were clenched into fists. We walked over to a bench and sat down. "Gaara, I know how you feel about (Y/n)", I stated.

Gaara's POV

I wouldn't be able to hold on for much longer. "Gaara, I know how you feel about (Y/n)"Naruto stated. My eyes widened, what! He placed his hand on my shoulder and smiled. "And as her cousin I fully support it", he yelled, giving me a thumbs up. Wait what? "I thought that you and (Y/n) were dating", I stuttered. Naruto shook his head and smiled again. "I found out a couple of days ago that (Y/n) is my cousin and we have been living together, you should come over now and ask her if she wants to hang out". I swallowed hard, ask her out. I had never had experience in love affairs, girl and boy stuff was like a different language to me. I sighed but Naruto was to determined now to get (Y/n) and I together. "Fine I will try", I murmured. Naruto smiled and gave me a hug, he seemed so happy.

Your POV

Oh my gosh I can't believe that Gaara was there. I smiled every time I thought about him. I was lying on Naruto's bed staring up at the ceiling. Naruto had pinned the photo of us on the wall so we could always see it. I was grateful to Naruto for letting me live with him. He was kind but also a little bit of an idiot. I usually cleaned up after him just to do my part until I became a ninja of the hidden leaf. Next week I was suppose to spar with some people to determine what my rank would be or if I would even be qualified for being a shinobi. Then I heard the door open and in came Naruto. And Gaara.

Naruto waved and went into the bathroom to have a shower. And I was left in the kitchen with Gaara. It was maybe five minutes of awkward silence before Gaara spoke. "H-hey (Y/n) do you maybe wanna go for a walk or something?", he asked, his voice was really wobbly. I smiled at him and agreed.

We left the apartment and walked out into the cold out doors. I shivered but got used to it quickly, Night shinobi could easily deal with cold temperatures because the life with in the caves was already cold. Gaara and I walked side by side. Then he told me to close my eyes, so I did. I closed my eyes and then I felt something strange like I was flying. I lost balance but before I could fall Gaara grabbed onto my hand. Then we stopped and I was on solid ground again. "Can I open my eyes yet?", you asked. You heard Gaara giggle. "No not yet". He grabbed your hand and lead you. Then he stopped. You heard him move so now he was standing beside you. "Now you can open them".

I opened my eyes and almost cried. Never had I ever seen anything so beautiful before, we were standing on top of the great stone faces. Overlooking the village and its beauty, the lights of the houses and shops illuminated the village, giving it life. Then you saw them. The lights in the sky, you looked over at Gaara and tapped him on the shoulder.  "Hey Gaara what are those?".

Gaara's POV

I was staring out over the village when I felt (Y/n) touch my shoulder. I looked down at her. "Hey Gaara what are those?", she asked pointing up at the stars. I laughed at her question as I looked into the sky. When I turned back to her she looked a bit disappointed. "Gaara I'm being serious, what are those?". I smiled and sat down, she joined me. She stared up into the night sky, hugging her knees. "Well those are the stars". "Stars?". I smiled at her before looking back at the sky. "I had never seen them before, I have been trapped in my village my whole life, my movements restricted, constantly watched by the Kage, his target, he wants me dead". I saw tears in her eyes, so I move closer to her and put my hand on her shoulder. She smiled through her tears, but she didn't stop crying. "I hated my life and every one hated me, I was a monster to them, just a burden to the village, they tried to kill me, everyone did, even me". It slapped me right in the face, the monster, a burden, hated by everyone, it sounded a lot like me. "(y/n) how come you haven't seen the stars until now, what about on the nights traveling here from your village?", I asked. I saw her shoulders tense, but she quickly released. After wiping her eyes she turned her body towards me and leaned forward. She leaned over to my ear and whispered. "Come over tomorrow and I will show", she said. She pulled away and smiled. I tried to cover my cheeks they were bright red. Our faces were nearly touching, just the thought made you blush. After snapping out of it, you walked back to Naruto's apartment.

When you were walking back you noticed her slow her pace and she began rubbing her eyes. "Are you tired?", you asked. She yawned and nodded. "Gaara can you carry me?", she asked, while stretching. You felt your face turn red but you agreed. You knelt down and let her climb onto your back. Her legs wrapped around you, she was really warm. We were just about at the apartment when I called out to her. "(Y/n)?", I called. But there was no response, I felt her head leaning against my neck. She had fallen asleep.

Your POV

It was a long shot but you were really tired and didn't think that your legs could carry you much further. "Gaara can you carry me?", I asked. He hesitated but agreed, I climbed up onto his back . I fought to stay asleep but his body warmth against mine sent me straight to sleep. I hope he wouldn't mind.

Gaara's POV

I carried (Y/n) up the stairs to Naruto's apartment and knocked on the door. Naruto came to the door rubbing his eyes. And when he saw me carrying (Y/n) he smiled and winked at me. I sighed and followed him inside. "Just put her in the bed", Naruto instructed. I walked over to the bed and tried to put (Y/n) down but she wouldn't let go of me. Each time I tried she just hugged me tighter. I shot Naruto a worrying look and he came over to help. It took about about ten minutes to pry (Y/n) from my back. Naruto giggled and sat at the end of the bed. "She's talking about you", he said. My face turned bright red. "W-when?", I asked. "In her sleep, she's always talking about you".
