20. Temari's plan

You lay awkwardly on your bed, Naruto was sleeping soundly next to you. His soft breathing made you feel safe, you closed your eyes and tried to get back to sleep but it just wasn't happening. You sat up and rubbed your eyes, something was wrong you just didn't know what. You decided to go on a midnight walk. You weren't afraid of anything at the moment, nothing would happen to you, mainly because Kankuro was now terribly afraid of you. But you did often catch him staring at you. You walked up the long spiral stair case up onto the roof. The steady breeze blew through your hair, pushing it behind you. You lent up against the railing, overlooking the village. It was so dark you could barely see, but you noticed a presence behind you. "Why are you spying on me?", you called out,not turning around. You heard foot steps from behind you and they came and stood next to you, you turned to look and see who it was. It was a boy with brown hair and an attractive face. "Do I know you?", I questioned. A smile spread across his face. "Don't you recognize me (Y/n)?", he chuckled. You studied his face but couldn't figure it out, you shook your head. "Its me, Kankuro". You flinched as you heard his name, you sighed. "What do you want?". He looked into my eyes and grabbed onto my hands. "I want you". You felt your face heat up, you nervously looked down at the ground. "I'm sorry Kankuro, but my heart belongs to some one else". You saw his confident smile fade as he released your hands, he looked down at the ground and walked away. You lay down staring up at the stars, they were beautiful. "Gaara you can come out", you called. Gaara stepped out from the shadows, his face expressionless. He sat next to you and looked up at the sky. "Gaara what are the stars?", you asked. He looked down at you and smiled. "The stars are made of light, to brighten up the darkness", he replied. You sat up and gave him a gentle closed eyes smile. You lent your head on his shoulder and closed your eyes. You sat there for ten minutes in silence, just listening to his breathing. Before you knew it you were asleep, Gaara kissed you on the cheek and carried you to your bed.

Gaara's POV

She asked me what the stars were and I said that they were the light to brighten up the darkness. She was a star, my star. She brightened up my life, she was everything I ever wanted. She sat up lent her head on my shoulder and we stared out into the sky, but when I turned to look at her she was asleep. He breathing slow and calm. Her hair fell in her face, I pushed it behind her ear and picked her up. I walked her back to her bed and placed her down, pulling the blanket over her body. I gently kissed her cheek and whispered the three most appropriate words to her. "I love you".

Your POV

I woke up to a excited Naruto. We had the day off today because we didn't need to complete the mission yet. Naruto was so excited he picked me up bridal style and carried me to the kitchen where everyone was sitting eating breakfast. You sat in between Sai and Naruto, next to Naruto was Temari and you could hear them secretly discussing something. You gave them both a suspicious stare and started to eat your breakfast. You were casually eating your cereal when you felt something gently tap your shoulder. You turned and saw Sai, you wiped the milk from your lips with the back of you hand and focused all of your attention to him. "Can I ask you something?". You smiled and nodded swallowing your mouthful of cereal. "Do you love Gaara?". You were glad he said it quietly, your face turned a intense red. Sai quietly giggled, you gave him an annoyed stare. "Shhhhh Sai, be quiet". "So you do!". You were lost for words, Sai gave you a cute smile. "(Y/n) likes G-!", was all he managed to say, before you leaned close to him and put him under your genjutsu. Sakura was laughing as she watched you force Sai to head but the table several times. You released and gave Sai a murderous stare. "Say anything and you die". You realized that you had gathered the attention of every one in the room, most were laughing but others just stared. Kankuro caught your eye but nervously looked down, you sighed. Ugh why are boys so difficult? You ran your fingers through your hair and rested your head in your hands. What am I gonna do?
