16. Midnight dance

It was dark and you stared into the fire. You had put a short (color) dress over your bikini. You noticed Gaara looking at you through the flames. You stood up and walked over to him, he looked up at you as you gave him a friendly smile. You sat next to him and stared into the fire next to him. "Gaara, why didn't you tell me you were a jinchuriki?", you asked, breaking the silence. He continued to look into the fire and sighed. "I didn't want you to be afraid of me". His voice shook as he spoke, you shifted closer to him and rested your head on his shoulder. You felt his body tense at your touch but he soon relaxed. A smile appeared on his face and he lent his head against yours. You sat there for five minutes in silence just enjoying each others warmth when you heard music beginning to play. You looked over and saw the girls running over to the lake with the music. You ruffled Gaara's hair and ran over to join them. The song was fast paced and you began dancing on the water, the other girl danced with you.

With the boys

The boys just sat and watched smiling at their moves. "Everything is a lot more fun when (Y/n) is here", commented Kiba. Naruto laughed at the girls and ran over to join them. Lee did too, they all danced wildly on the water. There was Sai, Neji, Choji,Shikamaru, Kiba and Shino left. Sai and Choji stood up joining the others. Neji sat beside Gaara and Shikamaru on Gaara's other side. "Gaara I see that you care dearly for (Y/n)", Neji spoke. Gaara lost his voice and couldn't find the words, then he heard Shikamaru from his other side. "It is obvious you two have a thing". Then Shino stepped forward. "Tell her how you feel, you will eventually run out of chances, you are both Jinchuriki and the Akatski will come after you both". Kiba wasn't paying attention, he was playing with Akamaru and Haru, but something did catch his attention. The music changed, it changed to a slow song and Kiba sprinted towards the water.

When the music slowed everyone started to slow dance, you pushed Naruto over to Hinata, Tenten to Lee, Sakura to Sai and Ino to Choji. You were left alone on the waters surface, but you felt some thing tap you on the shoulder. You turned and saw Kiba standing before you with a large grin on his face. "Do you wanna dance?", he asked. You gave him a gentle smile and agreed, you wanted to dance with some one else but you let him. He placed a hand on you hip and the other on shoulder, you placed yours on his shoulders and we danced. He kept staring at me so I just looked down at my feet. Then I felt something strange, Kiba was getting closer and closer to me. I pulled back a bit avoiding his face, Kiba was trying to kiss me. I panicked but felt a hand on my wrist. It yanked me from Kiba's grasp, I looked up and saw Naruto. "Nice save", you giggled. You both danced until you were pulled from him by Lee. Lee's style of dancing wasn't very slow though it was more of a Tango. (A/n- Please don't correct me in the comments,I know I'm probably wrong, I don't know dances).  After ten minutes with Lee you stopped to take a breather, every thing to do with Lee was always intense.

You stood by yourself beside the water edge staring at your reflection. You made several hand signs "Summoning jutsu". Hundreds of fire flies flew into the night sky illuminating the water and those still dancing on it. Then you heard a familiar voice from behind you. "(Y/n)". You turned and saw Gaara standing behind you, his cheeks tinted pink as your eyes met. "Do you want to dance?", he asked. You smiled back at him. "Of course". He grabbed your hand and led you over to the others. One hand placed on your waist and the other on your shoulder, you wrapped yours around his neck. You felt so happy with him, you closed your eyes and enjoyed the moment. But when you opened them again it was just you and Gaara alone on the water. The other sat on the waters edge smiling at the two of you, Gaara looked you in the eyes before pulling you into a tight embrace. His face nuzzled into your neck, you giggled and he pulled away. He gave you a gentle smile and delicately kissed your forehead. You felt your cheeks grow pink, a fire fly landed on your nose. You crinkled you nose and let out a soft sneeze, Gaara giggled as you rested your forehead against his chest. You pulled back and looked up at him with a big smile. "(Y/n) I need to tell you something".

Gaara's POV

"(Y/n) I need to tell you something". I felt my cheeks turn bright red. I was about to tell her how I felt, I took a deep breath and starred down into her (e/c) orbs. "I think I-", was all you manged to say. (Y/n) had then tripped over your foot and flung herself head first into the water. She surfaced and shivered, I reached down and pulled her up. I carried her bridal style but to the others, she snuggled into my chest, a large smile on her face.

Your POV

Gaara was so warm, I snuggled into him as he carried me back to the others. Some of them were laughing. "Nice moves", commented Shikamaru. You gave him a cheeky smile as Gaara placed you down. You left with the girls to go get changed.

With the girls
I got changed in my room with the girls sitting on my bed. "What happened?", asked Tenten. "Yeah tell us", begged Tenten. You pulled a shirt over your head and giggled. "Well he hugged me and then he told me he wanted to tell me something but I tripped and fell in the water". The others giggled and huddled together. You could hear their whispers. "Maybe he was gonna ask her out, no confess his love, no propose". You giggled and put on a pair of socks. You all left the room walking back to the boys.

With the boys
Gaara sat down next to the others and was bombarded with questions. "Did you do it?", asked Naruto. "Did she say yes", asked Shikamaru. Kiba looked back and forward between the guys. "What is going on guys?", he asked. The others gave him as accusing stare. "Idiot we are trying to see if Gaara told (Y/n) how he felt and Kiba you need to stop hitting on her", growled Neji. Naruto smirked and placed his hand on Neji's shoulder. "(Y/n) is for Gaara", said Naruto sternly. Kiba nodded, wiping the sweat from his forehead. The boys turned as they saw the girls coming back over.

I walked over and sat next to Gaara and gave him a friendly smile. "Gaara what was it you were trying to tell me before?", you asked. You noticed Gaara was a little tense, everyone seemed to be staring intensely at him. You sighed. "Don't worry you can tell me tomorrow", you assured. He nodded and lay back on his bed. You had all set up your beds outside next to the fire, you felt really tired and lay back on your pillow. You felt your eyelids become heavy and you closed your eyes falling asleep. Just as you were about to fall asleep you felt someone drape a blanket over you. You slightly opened your eyes, but the only thing you saw was a red blur. Your eyes closed once again and you fell into a long deep sleep.
