17. Mission to the sand

You woke up the next morning with a pair of arms wrapped around you. You tried to pull yourself up but each time you moved they pulled you closer. You tried again but you felt something strange wrap around your leg. You looked down and saw that the thing wrapped around your leg was sand, meaning that the one hugging you was Gaara. It made sense, Gaara's bed was right next to yours, Naruto made sure of that. You saw that everyone else who was there was sleeping, there were a few missing. Shino, Lee, Shikamaru and Neji weren't there. You noticed Tenten stir next to you. You reached out your arm and slightly shook her shoulder. Tenten awoke, rubbing her eyes and yawning. She looked over at me and sleepily smiled. "Good morning (Y/n)". Then her face changed from happy to confused, Tenten then noticed your distressed face and your whispering. "Tenten help me". She sat up and saw that Gaara was holding you close, she held her hand over her mouth and giggled. Several other bodies stirred and you saw Ino, Sakura and Hinata sit up. They all giggled at the sight of you and Gaara. Ino blurted out loud and woke the others, however Gaara didn't shift at all. Naruto ruffled your hair as you were restrained in Gaara's grip. You barred your teeth and growled at him. Now everyone was awake and the others had come back, they all gathered around your struggling body and Gaara's as he soundly slept. Tenten bent down and whispered in my ear, my face turned red from the suggestion, but it was worth a shot.

You managed to rotate yourself so you were facing Gaara. You couldn't believe you were actually about to do this. You looked back at your surrounding friends and shooed them. They still continued to watch but from a safe distance. You looked at Gaara and gently placed your hand on his cheek, lightly caressing it. He slightly stirred, now was for the next phase. You moved forward and delicately kissed his cheek, I saw his eyes flutter open and his face grow bright red. I gave him a small smile. "Morning", you greeted. He looked down at you and how his arms tightly grasped you, he released you and gave you a nervous smile. "I-I'm sorry". You smiled back at him and tapped him on the nose. "Its OK, your really warm, you know that?". His face went even redder if that was possible and he got up and walked to the house to get a drink. The rest of you giggled, you noticed Kiba was a little bit down but smiled once Akamaru came and sat next to him. Everything was OK.

Time skip

You all packed up your stuff and left the scroll world. "(Y/n) we have to go see Granny Tsunade", instructed Naruto. You nodded and followed him to the Hokage's mansion. It was you, Naruto, Sai and Sakura walking up the stairs to the Hokage's office when you heard speech on the other side of the Hokage's door. Naruto knocked and was greeted by the voice of the Sanin. "Come in". You all entered and saw that it wasn't just the Hokage in her office but also the Kazekage. Gaara was standing before her speaking, his cheeks tinted pink when he saw you. You gave him a friendly wave and walked up to the Hokage with the others. "You four will journey to the hidden sand village with Gaara this afternoon to help find traitors among the village". "You will only be investigating suspects, do not accuse anyone and do not let anyone know that that is the purpose of your visit". You all nodded and followed Naruto back to the apartment to pack for the mission.

You and Naruto were walking towards his apartment. "Naruto, whats the sand village like?", you asked. Naruto gave you a friendly smile and locked arms with you. "Its like a big desert and there is heaps of sand". You smiled, you couldn't imagine it. A place were everything is sand, in the Night village you were taught about other villages but never what they looked like, it was about symbols of other villages and knowing whether they were friendly or not. You packed all of your stuff into your scroll and hurried with Naruto to the gates of the village. You were excited this was your first ever mission as a free shinobi.
