Chapter 37

Charlotte's PoV
We arrived at the hanger that the ascension was in and, I didn't know how the rest of the crew were going to take the news that we were going to be working with Lord Draxx, the same person that we've been working against for ages. I wouldn't blame them if they tried to attack him, and we needed to keep him alive for as long as he could help us. That in itself is the worst part of this whole ordeal.

We got to the ascension and as soon as we did, I saw Sharmia and Sasha come from the ship doors, they were wielding weapons. I knew this was going to happen.
"What's he doing here?" Sharmia aimed her sniper rifle at the Draxx's head

"Well that's a fine hello, Sharmia" Draxx remarked

"He's the mystery person that wanted to see Jessica, and we have to work with him and the rest of his group" I then continued to explain everything about Ivy taking control of the serpentine and how Draxx has an arkkon piece in exchange for our cooperation.

"So we have to work with that bastard until he gets his ship back?" Sharmia asked

"I don't like it either, but yes" I nodded

"I'm right here, you know" Draxx pointed out

"Shame, I'd prefer you to be dead" Sharmia said before turning around back to the ship

"Real charmer, I see" Draxx said before seeing Sasha "Sasha...its been a while"

Sasha didn't reply, instead she just turned and followed Sasha back onto the ship. I remember when we first met Sasha, when she told of how Draxx held her captive on the reaper because she wouldn't help him.
"So where's this group you're with then?" I remembered Draxx mentioning a group

"In the shuttle over there" he pointed

I looked and saw where he was pointing and saw a large black shuttle. The windows were dark red and the shuttle's shape was quite similar to the shuttles on the ascension, only difference being that this shuttle had more weapons and larger engine thrusters.
"Vaxeneir, can you Ulag and Jaymos go put the arkkon piece on the ascension?" I asked "I'll take Draxx to inform his group of what's happening"

"Very well" Vaxeneir said

"You sure you wanna go on your own?" Ulag asked

"yeah, if they try anything, there's at least a couple thousand wardens in this temple" I answered "they wouldn't get any further than a few feet from their shuttle"

"Okay, just holler if you need us, player" Jaymos told me

Vaxeneir, Ulag and Jaymos then entered the ascension while I went to go get Draxx's group of snakes. We walked over and as we did, Draxx talking talking.
"You and Jessica have become quite acquainted with each other?" He said

"What's it to you?" I responded

"Even if she doesn't realise it, or doesn't want to admit it, I am related to her..." He said "a little part of me is in her blood"

I turned to face him and said "she is nothing like you!"

"You're only saying that because you love her" what twisted game was he playing? "You only know the girl that you love"

"What would you know about love?"

"Only that it causes people to follow down a truly dark path to save the one they love" he answered

We had reached the shuttle by the time he said that. He walked up to the shuttle and knocked on the back three times. Then the shuttle doors opened up and I saw who was with Draxx and who would be staying with us. The first one I saw was the serpentine emperor, scales. Jessica told me about his staff and how it could manipulate reality. Then I saw those two humans that escorted us back when me and Jessica were held captive on the reaper, Ornstein and Steelynx, I didn't know anything about them so I'd have to keep an eye on them. The mad professor himself, Cyrille was the next to come into view, just the person we needed, he could repair project infinity and we could get Jacob back, Jasmine would be glad about this. Finally, I saw Trident, the one who killed my father, I came close to killing him on Scalathorn, but he got away. He grinned as he saw me, he wanted me to do something, something that would allow him to strike out at me. I waited as Draxx then addressed them about what was happening.
"My Lord, I take it you've spoken with the Starillian girl?" Scales asked

"Yes, and she has allowed us to take up residence on the ascension until we overthrow Ivy" Draxx answered "but I want you to know that none of you will do anything to jeopardise our temporary alliance"

"Of course, my Lord" Trident bowed

"Very well, my Lord" Cyrille added

They then returned back the shuttle and at first I didn't understand what they were doing, but then I understood that they were going to dock their shuttle in the ascension and then they'd head down to the lower levels like Jasmine said. But why was Draxx staying with me then rather than staying with his group?
"Aren't you gonna go with your men?" I asked

"I'm going to enter the ascension with you" he answered "just to prove that I won't order them to open fire on the ship the second they take off"

As much as I hated Draxx, I have to admit, he was willing to cooperate with us. I just hope he isn't putting up a facade just so he could stab us in the back...
