I was born in blood, they told me. My mother made demons and warlocks all around perform magic on me, perform rituals that made me her blood son. So that Sebastian Morgenstern would be my father. So Clarissa Morgenstern would be my mother. My mother could not have children in Edom, since she could not age. I was her miracle. She did not desire my father, so she was glad that she could have a son without any friendly interactions to produce a child. I was raised in Edom for the first 200 years of my life. In Edom, time is different. For every year on Earth, 100 years pass in Edom, yet we never age. I loved my mother dearly. I also loved my father, even though sometimes it was hard for him to feel the same about me. "Your father feels emotions differently. He can not feel as much as we do. It is not his fault that emotions such as joy, love and sympathy do not come to him as naturally as it does to us. Do not judge him for his feelings, only judge him on his actions." She had told me, when I asked her why my father didn't love me as much as she loved me.
My parents were not that fond of each other, but I did not have any body else to compare their relationship to, since they were the only humans in Edom. My father was very fond of Mother. He always tried kissing her and such, but she apparently did not share his feelings. This confused me, as I thought my father was supposed to be the one that had a hard time loving. Love seemed to be a complicated thing, yet I am told that the love siblings share is a very special kind of love, so that must be why. I heard that siblings sometimes fight often, so that must be why Mother and Father fight so much. My mother is my father's sister, which my mother seems to not like that fact. My father told me that my mother is very dramatic. Apparently royalty marry siblings, and that it helps keep the bloodline pure. I do not have a sister, so I have no need to marry. My mother said that is why I have no sister. This confuses me. Doesn't she wish for me to marry someday?
I was trained and educated by my father. He taught me many different languages, and how to communicate in other demonic languages. I learned how to fight with arrows, spears, swords, and daggers. My father told me about Earth, and how horrible that world was. My mother told me about Earth, and how wonderful it was. I dreamed about the sky. My mother told me that the sky in Earth was very blue, and that Earth was very green with things like plants and animals. I have never encountered such things, but my mother told me that is what made Earth so beautiful.
One day my parents told me that I was to be sent to Earth. My mother told me that it was so that I could grow, and live a life. My father quietly pulled me aside and told me to be wary, as mundanes and especially the nephilim, were horrible beings that Earth so horrible. "If you cause some mischief on Earth, I wouldn't scold you." Father told me with a slight quirk of his brow. Earth is a dangerous place. There are over 6 billion humans on Earth, and none of them should be trusted. Especially the shadowhunters. They betrayed my father and grandfather, and they would betray me as well if I allow it. They hate my family. I shall live on Earth, only because I want to be an adult. I want to grow up, so that I can return to my parents a grown man.
I jump through the portal. I am welcomed by blue. That is what the sky is? Noise. Lots of noise. hard concrete(?) is below me. A door opens. A man sees me. He slowly bends over me. "You okay kid?" he asks. "Yes." I answer. My heart starts to race. I am not used to meeting new people. I slowly find the courage to talk. "My name is Christopher Star, and I am nephilim. I request shelter." I recited the words that my mother taught me. The man raises an eyebrow. He reaches out a hand and helps me stand up. "Thank you." I tell him. Mother told me that humans on earth believe in something called manners. Apparently this is a common display of gratitude when someone does something for you, or helps you in some form. I personally find this habit odd, but Father always did say that humans on Earth were very odd. They lived by harsh social restrictions, and despised change.
The man smiled slightly at me. "Welcome to the New York institute. It's been a while since we've had a newcomer. You do look familiar though. You have any relatives?" The odd man inquired. "No. I am an orphan, and have no other family." I recited what my mother told me. She said that my true identity should never be revealed. On Earth, being a Morgenstern is bad. I could be imprisoned. The man frowns slightly. "Who are you?" I ask him, genuinely curious. The man smirks at me. "My oh my, have you been living under a rock? Your youth is adorable." He laughs. I frown. "I am 207 years old, young man." I glare at him. This just causes the strange man to laugh even harder. "That's really cute kid." He managed to say between spouts of laughter. "Since you do not know, my name is Jace Herondale. "
