Chapter 13 Come Together
Flashback...15 Aug 1962
Today I was spending part of the day with the lads at the recording studio. Oh wait, I forgot to mention, back in June they went to EMI studios in Abbey Road for an audition/recording session and they were offered a record deal. I'm so proud of them, I can't get over how proud I am.
Things haven't been going well with Ritchie, Rory and the band. They seem to be distancing themselves a bit, he's been a bit upset over it. He's even been distant from me lately. I hate seeing him like that, but I know he'll cheer up soon. You see, I was finally able to help persuade the lads to let Ritchie join The Beatles. Paul, John, George, Brian, and I had a meeting a few days ago and we all decided that Pete's been slacking off too much and it's time to let him go. Brian was a little nervous because he thought that they'd have to go without a drummer for a bit, but gladly he approved of Ritchie's drumming skills.
Anyway, all of us, minus Pete, are at the recording studio. Brian's having a final meeting with the lads and George Martin, the record producer at EMI, about everything. Once they're done they're going to come to me, I'm going to go get Ritchie, bring him here, and they'll tell him the great news. In the mean time while I wait for them I'm working on another one of my songs. Apparently I was too into my music to hear them come in.
"Pam! Pam! Hello, earth to Pam!"
I snapped out of my thoughts to see the lads standing there. "Oh, sorry bout that."
Brian looked over to me. "We're all good to continue with the plan. Are you going to go get Ringo?"
I nodded, setting Paul's guitar down and standing up. "I'll go get him now and we'll be back soon."
Brian smiled, clapping his hands together. "Great, great! Now you three stay here and don't do anything idiotic. I mean you, Lennon."
John let out a sarcastic sigh. "Whatever you say Eppy. Be back with Ringo soon, Pam!"
"I will!" And with I left and headed to Ritchie's house. The drive between the recording studio in London and back home in Liverpool was only a few hours, so it wasn't bad. I got into my car and drove home, arriving at Ritchie's house about two hours later. I went up to the door, knocking on it lightly. Seconds later Elsie came to the door.
"Pam! It's wonderful to see you! How have you been?"
"It's great seeing you too Elsie. I've been good. How's Ritchie been? Any better?"
She let out a sigh. "He's been a bit anti social lately. It's hard to get him out of his room."
"I bet I can get him out of there. Can I go talk to him?"
She nodded, giving a smile. "Of course! You know where his room is."
"Thank you." I walked into the house, heading into his room. I knocked on his door lightly.
"Go away, Mum. I'm not in the mood right now."
I sighed, walking into his room to find him laying face down on his bed. I sat on the bed next to him.
"I told you I don't want to talk, Mum."
I ran my fingers through his hair. "It's me, Ritchie."
He turned over so he was facing me. "Oh, love, it is you. Sorry about that I'm just not in a happy mood."
I laid next down next to him. "That's okay. How bout we go somewhere? Just have some you and me time."
He took my hand, holding onto it tightly. "I'm not sure, can't we just lay here all day?"
