Yesterday lying all day long in my air conditioned room,
And watching movies all night,
A question stuck to my mind,
What is life? The next day I went out,
And my eyes caught a group of little rag pickers.
It's hard living and working like that barefoot,
Still that innocent smile spilled over, into their eyes.
A question stuck to my mind,
What a life?I moved a little, and saw a year old kid.
Sitting next to his cold skinned mother and asking her to open her eyes,
He was a bit hungry I guess,
But unaware that his last hope was dead, not alive.
A question stuck to my mind,
Is that a life?The next I saw a father working over-hours,
I asked and he said I have to earn more all day and night,
But what's the reason behind the over-hours,
And he said, I wanna gift my boy, a bike.
A question stuck to my mind,
Damn! That life!At last I peeped into a house,
The time when the moon was bright.
They fed their kid with a little rice,
And their parents slept happily drinking just water that night.
A question stuck to my mind,
Is that called a life? And then I went back to my home,
My mom asked me, where you've been?
I told her after being out all day long,
The harsh realities I've seen. The kid without slipper and the mother without soul,
The father with a bit more efforts and those parents with their blurred hopes,
The struggles they make to live a day more in this world, alive,
And after being out all day mom, now I know ' This is LIFE! '--------------
