"Ambrosia..." Rose heard someone mumble. She glanced up to see her mom standing in the doorway.

Ambrosia had a lot in common with her mom appearance wise, but today, she appeared so tired. Her peanut-brown, wavy hair's never put up, but today, it sat in a messy bun. Dark circles held up her aegean-blue eyes, no ounce of her usual make-up hiding her fatigue. Her pear-shaped body and small hips only flattered her big chest and thighs. Beautiful... Ambrosia thought to herself, though her mom would disagree. No wonder Ambrosia had insecurity issues.

"Why are you crying?" her mom questioned. A faint smile graced Rose's lips.

"I thought you didn't want to see me because of what I am. I thought you were afraid of me- disappointed in me."

"I'm not disappointed or afraid of you, honey." Her heartbeat quickened.

"Yes, you are. I can hear your hastening heartbeat," Rose cried, a flood of tears rushing out of her. As her mom frowned, Ambrosia turned away, not wanting to see her when, suddenly, a hand wrapped around hers. She looked back to see her mom standing next to her.

"I admit I was, but now I'm not. Although I don't know what you're capable of or what it means to be a werewolf, I will always love you, Ambrosia. Never forget that. I just need to learn more about it, that's all." It grew quiet. Breaking the silence, her mom asked, "Ambrosia, how come you didn't tell me you had a boyfriend? He seems like a real gentleman."

Nonchalantly, Rose remarked, "You were never home."

"You could have told me when I got home from work. We could have talked then."

"You always took an extra shift, so I never got to. I wanted to tell you many times about Demetri, but you were always at the hospital." Her mom frowned.

"I'm sorry, Ambrosia. I forgot. I'll stop taking those extra shifts. They'll have to find someone else."

"Mom, don't do that. We need the money."

"No, we don't. Besides, you need your mother more. We'll just have to deal with what we can afford."

"Mom, you don't need to do that for me. I have Callum. Yeah, sometimes he can be a bit annoying, but I can still talk to him whenever I need too. He's always there for me no matter what."

"I want to. I think I need to spend more time with you guys before it's too late." Ambrosia knew she couldn't win this one, so she just nodded. "Is there anything you wish to tell me?" Her mom already knew about Demetri. She already knew Ambrosia's a werewolf. What else could Rose tell her?

"Well, I'm not friends with Josephine anymore." Ambrosia's mom gasped, her eyes wide.

"Why not? You two seemed like you'd be each other's friend until the end."

"We got into a huge fight the second day of school because of Callum. He told me the night before how he threatened every boy in school to never date me or else. Apparently, a lot of them want to... Since I was hurt, I told Josephine about our fight. I thought I could tell her anything, but she got upset by it and called me ugly. She claimed she was way better looking than me. So, hurt even more, I ran into the closest bathroom... Demetri came to my rescue." Rose watched as her mom clenched her fists. The veins in her hands looking as if they're about to burst. "Mom. Mom. Mom!" Rose screamed, shaking her. As her mom relaxed her fists, Rose sighed in relief.

"I never liked her. She was just a great friend for the time being. I kept waiting for you to make a new friend who you could trust- one who wouldn't steal your spotlight or always had to have eyes on themselves. I'm actually glad you're not friends anymore. I know you were probably crushed, but she was no good to you. You deserve someone better than her as a friend."
