Me and Jacob made our way up to the beach. The party was just starting to kick off. There was music blasting with people swaying to the music. Other people talking while holding drinks in there hands. My guess was that there were about 60ish people here already.
I saw Audrey flirting with some boy that looked a couple years older than us. I then felt someone wrap there arm around my shoulder. I slowly turned my head to the side to see Jason smiling down at me.
"Howdy"
Jason was quiet, and a little .... awkward. But in a cute way. I gave him a smile and nodded.
"The party is here!" Announce Alex when he stepped foot onto the beach. Quite obnoxiously might I add. I just rolled my eyes at this. My eyes trailed away from the three boys talking to find Mia and Rachel. I have not seen them in a few days, so I decided to make my way over towards them. Once they saw me, both of them greeted me with a warm smile.
"Hey Niki!" they said simultaneously.
"Hey guys. I didn't know you guys were coming to the party?"
"Yeah, it was kind of a last minute decision. Or else we would have given you and Audrey a ride." Rachel explained
"But I can see you had a different way of getting here." Mia said while wiggling he eyebrows suggestively.
"I really don't see what the big deal is?" I laughed. Both of them smirked looked at each other then back to me. Rachel then began to explain
"He is so interested in you!" my eyes widened at this. Then I burst into a fit of laughter, not caring that people were now starting to look over at me. I finally met the gaze of Rachel and Mia. Both if them gave me a very unimpressed look then Mia continued in Rachel's explanation.
"You see, Jacob dose not really show any sign of interest towards any girl. I know what your thinking, 'he is the playboy, of coarse he does'. But with those girls it's different, they approach him first, and, well you know the rest."
Rachel then piped back in
"With you, he always talks to you, he gives you rides, he has even come to see you at your locker for heavens sake!"
I just shook my head.
"I don't know. we are neighbors, it is kind if expected for us to carpool. As for him talking to me, maybe he is being friendly? trying to make a new friend, that's all."
Rachel and Mia exchanged glances again. "whatever you say" they both sighed and walked away. I sighed, I then continued to turn on my heals almost bumping into someone. "sorry about that" I mumbled, looking up to meet the eyes of 'speak of the devil' Jacob. He gave me his classic smirk.
"You just love bumping into me, don't ya?"
"No, not really, maybe you are making me bump into you on purpose." I retorted. He just smirked. It then crossed my mind of what Rachel and Mia were saying 'he is soo interested in you!'. 'they all approach him first!'.
What if they were right? I don't think I'm ready for another relationship, not after what happened... I pushed all those feeling back down once Jacob began to speak again.
"Nope. Just gives you an excuse to talk to me. As every other girl does." he said smugly. 'Nope' there is no possible chance that he is even the slightest but interested in me. I was going to roll my eyes at his huge ego. Before I could I got lost in his deep blue eyes. I think I began to stare because he then was sporting his classic smirk all over again.
"Do you wanna go for a walk?" he asked cooly. I just shrugged and we began to walk down the shore.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were just walking down the beach, it had been 20 minutes or so. We talked about everything. But then our conversation some how turned into one about our old friends and past relationships. Once Jacob brought this topic up, I went stiff.
"So how were your past relationships?" Jacob snapped me out of my daze. I did not look up at him I only kept my eyes glued to the sand beneath my feet.
"Oh. umm. Fine. I guess..."
This was a touchy subject for me. I never talked about it. Not even to Sam or Colton, my two best friends. They knew it was not a topic to bring up. Jacob had no way of knowing, so I could not blame him.
I looked up to meet his eyes. He frowned when I did.
"Are you okay?" He actually sounded like he cared.
"Ya..um.... fine" I moved my gaze back down to the sand.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" why was he doing this. He was actually being..... nice.
"No.... not now" I mumbled. I looked up to see that he was still looking at me. His face full of concern. I gave him a half hearted smile. And he gave one in return.
"We should um... be getting back"
"Ya, ya" things just got kind of awkward. I don't know why. But it was nice to know that Jacob did have a caring side to him.
By the time we got back, the party was in full swing. Instead of people swaying to the music, they were grinding or looked like they were having some sort if seizure. As for the people just talking, they were now laughing, yelling, and stumbling all over the place with drinks in there hands. There also was people making out behind trees as if no one could see them. 'Not that they care'.
I made my way through the large crowd of people to go find Audrey. Before I made it far, some guy grabbed onto my arm.
"Hey babe, wanna dance?" he slurred. This guy was clearly drunk. His hair all messy and he smelled of booze and smoke.
"Not with you" I rolled my eyes and tried to walk away but he grabbed onto my arm again.
"But... your hott" he licked his lips and eyed me up and down. I rolled my eyes
"Ya? and your a Dick" I snapped before walking away. He didn't bother grabbing me again. Which I was thankful for.
I found Audrey grabbing a drink and I made my way over to her.
"Hey! I found you!" she said in a sing-song voice then tapped my nose with her finger while making a 'boop' noise. I laughed at her in her drunken state.
"What time do you wanna leave?" I asked her on a serious note. She swayed side to side, as though she was thinking.
"Uhhhhh......... soon!" he slurred. I didn't feel like drinking so when Audrey disappeared into the sweaty crowd of people.
"Hey" I here a familiar voice, and turned around to see Jacob standing in front of me.
"When you leaving?"
"Well your my ride"
Jacob rolled his eyes.
"When are we leaving?" he corrected himself. I smiled at that.
"Well Audrey said soon"
"Okay.... Dance with me"
"What?"
"Dance with me. then we can leave." he smiled
"I don't dance"
"Right, c'mon then."
He grabbed my hand and lead me to the dance floor. He moved my hands to his shoulders then moved his hands to my waist. A slow song came on, so we started swaying to the music.
"See, you can dance."
"I know, just an excuse worth trying" I said cheekily. Jacob fake pouted and we continued to dance. We were not talking to each other. But the silence was comfortable. When the song ended, we stayed like this for a few minutes. Then Jacob leaned closer and whispers in my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
"We better go find Audrey"
I just nodded in agreement, as he was so close my mind went elsewere. We broke apart and walked through the crowds to find my impaired friend. I did not mind the dance with Jacob. I actually... liked it.
