I have always lived by the beliefs I have set for myself. The most popular one I live by is

'You're going to get criticized, so you might as well do whatever the fuck you want.'

And to this day I still do live by it. Back in Vancouver, I was never the girl to follow all the new trends, I always kind of did my own thing. Never was I ever apart of the 'popular' crowd. Again a thing a believe in is that 'Popularity is for Mediocre people'.

Now just because I'm saying I did not slut around to get attention, I was not a wallflower either. 'The perks of being a wallflower" please. There are no perks. I enjoyed my life back home in Vancouver, it felt... Balanced. My life here in North Carolina, has just started to feel comfortable. Although I still have not quite found my balance yet, I'm still that metaphorical baby learning how to walk for the first time. Though that is expected as I have only lived here for about a month now.

Nothing has changed much since the night of the beach party. Except that me and Jacob have gotten closer. It's nice to be friends it feels.... Right. I may wonder about the unknown, I know none of it would ever turn out for the best. So I keep it buried deep down in a parallel universe that only exists in my mind.

I was laying in my queen sized bed looking up at the ceiling. I didn't even know the time. I was more then capable to turn my head about 45 degrees to the right, but I was really feeling no such need at that particular moment. I was going to roll over and get some more sleep, it being a Saturday and all, but my phone decided right now would be the perfect time to go off. I could have sworn I put it on silent.

I rolled over and grabbed it off my my nightstand. I turned it on, to find that the time was 9:38 am. I groaned and continued to check my text messages. One message, from Jacob.

'Hey, what you doing today?"

I sighed and continued to type a response.

'Well considering you just eliminated any chance of me falling back asleep, nothing."

'Oh. Sorry about that, but I was wondering if you wanted to hangout?'

'Ya sure, pick me up at noon'

'Sounds good!'

I put my phone down then went into a big cat stretch. I know what your thinking 'Jacob lives next door, you could just walk there' Ya well no! Whenever we hangout we don't really do it at our houses, as we always have dinners together. We never know where we are going, we just go with it.

I rolled out of bed and proceeded with my usual morning routine. I pulled on a black peasant skirt with a white crop, and a pair of gladiators. I was feeling very 'anti-hippie' felt kinda cool, so I left it.

I waled down stairs and poured myself a glass of orange juice. I was eating fruit salad when Chris walked in.

"Hey Niki, what you doing today?"

"Just hanging out with Jacob. And what does my big brother have planned?"

Chris rolled his eyes and continued to make himself some toast.

"Me and some of the guys are going to a football game."

"Wow sounds.... Fun?"

"Yep!" Chris said excitingly. The rest of the morning was filled with doing chores and lounging around.

At about quarter past noon, the front door opened. I knew it was Jacob, he just kind of does that, he only started doing it because my parents said it was silly to have to ring the doorbell every time. Jacob walked in the living room

"Hey, you ready to go?"

"Yeah"

We both left my house and made my way out to his truck. Once we got inside I turned to him

"So what do you want to do?"

Jacob smirked

"I got some ideas" and with that he put the truck into drive, and proceeded to drive away from my not quite comfortable home.
