We drove in silence. The only sound was the music playing through the radio. 'Remembering Sunday' by All Time Low, was playing. I loved this song. So it just came as a natural to sing along. Jacob was focused on the road, so I don't think he heard me singing under my breath.
"Forgive me I'm trying to find, my calling, I'm calling at night." I sang under my breath. while looking out the window. It really took me by surprise when Jacob started to sing along.
"I guess I'll go home now, I guess I'll go home now, I guess I'll go home." He sang the final part. I looked over at him in surprise. He wasn't bad, actually he was good. He saw me watching and turned and flashed me a toothy grin when he finished singing.
"Wow, who knew you could sing?" I told him sarcastically
"There's a lot you don't know about me baby" he winked.
I shook my head making a "tsk tsk tsk" noise, while he just chuckled. We were driving for 10 more minutes and I was growing impatient. we never go this far when we hangout usually. I let out a long sigh.
"Is there a problem Nick?" he looked at me with amusement in his eyes. Wait. Did he just call me Nick? No one ever really calls me that as my name is already in a short form. It didn't bother me for some reason. So I just ignored it.
"Are we there yet?" I drawled like a child. He just laughed at me, he didn't even have to speak for me to already know what he was going to say.
"Soon" he smiled. I let out a frustrated groan. I sat there patiently waited staring out this window again. consumed in my own pointless thoughts. 'rock, rock, rock, grass, guess what! another fucking rock.' Jacobs singing brought me out of my oh so interesting thoughts. He was singing 'Hold on till May' by Pierce the Veil. This song meant a lot to me.
"If I were you, I'd put that away. See you're just wasted and thinking bout the past again, Darling you'll be Okay."
He noticed I was staring and looked over at me, and stopped singing.
"do you like this song?" he asked me, his blue eyes so deep. I looked him in the eye, almost getting lost in them.
"I.. um.. uh.. yeah.... a lot."
His smile never faltered as he turned his eyes back to the road. He started singing along again. But I didn't mind, I actually really liked his voice. In another 15 minutes, Jacob was parking the car. I was really confused. There was a beach in town. So why did he drive almost an hour out here? I turned to see him already gone out of the truck. He was walking around to my side, and pulled the door open for me.
"How very gentlemanly of you" I said with a laugh hoping out of the truck. he just replied with a smile and nod.
"So are you going to tell me why we drove an hour to a beach when we have one in town?"
He flashed me one of his knowing grins and said "follow me" so reluctantly I did. We were walking towards the beach, when I really noticed that it was a lot nicer here. As we walked onto the beach I spotted a small cabin. Jacob started heading towards it, and I stopped.
"You didn't bring me out here to kill me? did you?"
Jacob let out a small laugh.
"No, not this time, now c'mon."
I followed him the rest of the way till we reached the front door. He then pulled a key from his pocket and unlocked the door.
"this is yours?"
he nodded "My family's"
He opened the door to enter. It was really nice, it was a lot bigger then it looked. There was a living room with cream leather couches, and a woven rug and a fireplace. I walked further in and saw a kitchen with granite countertops. There was then a small hallway, I walked down it and pushed one of the doors open, revealing a bedroom. It was of medium size, white walls, with a queen sized bed in the middle, with a light brown comforter. I walked out to the next door. Again another bedroom, that looks the same. I see a bag sitting in the middle of the room, so I walk in. For some reason this reminds me of my duffle bag. I unzip the bag only to see some of my clothes. I turn my head and see Jacob standing in the doorway.
"Why is my stuff here?"
He smiles.
"Well, considering, that we are camping out here for the weekend, I thought you might want them"
I starred at him shocked.
"What? Do my parent know?"
"don't worry Nick, Your mom is the one who packed your bag."
I let out a sigh of relive. but I was still confused
"But, why exactly are we camping?"
Jacob looked very amused, he let out a low chuckle "I don't know, I haven't been in a while, plus there is a meteor shower tonight, thought it would be fun."
I sighed and nodded in defeat. He noticed this and began to speak again.
"Well, I'm going to go unpack, want to go swimming after?"
I shrug "sure" he nods and walks out to his room. I empty out the condense of my bag onto the bed. Sure enough, my mom packed everything. I continued to unpack, then went to grab my bathing suit. 'wow, thanks mom' is all I could think when I picked up the small black bikini. I only had one thought in my head.
'this is going to be one interesting weekend.'
