(Taylor’s POV)

My mind is racing. Like a formula 1 car whizzing through my brain. Alie just slapped me. Alie just slapped me and Lily is still butt naked in my shower. Everything Alie jut said makes so much sense. What if Lily tries to get me in trouble? The mere thought of Lily doing anything to hurt me doesn’t settle well. What did I get myself into?

From the corner of my eye, I see Lily wraps a towel around herself and gently pads across the floor. “Taylor, are you okay?” she asks with concern. I ignore her. Wrapping the towel more firmly around myself, I walk out the bathroom. I hear Lily follow but pay no mind. What I simply can’t understand is why Alie is being like this. Sure, she’s young but not by much. Sure, this is really risky but when have I not been reckless? This just doesn’t add up and I can’t seem to put the pieces together. Does Alie like me? No, she’s straight and has a fiancé.

I open my closet and reach for something to wear. Paying no attention to what I actually pick, I quickly put it on. Two arms loop around my waist. “What’s going to happen?” Lily whispers. Her lips are close enough to my ear that there’s no need for shouting.

“Don’t know. I’m going to find out though. There’s a reason Alie doesn’t want me with you and for some reason I don’t think it’s because of the age thing,” I reply. Lily turns me around and looks at me with concern.

“You don’t really believe I’d ever get you in trouble right? I mean, I want this just as much as you do. Besides, I don’t need your money I have my own,” she smirks. She’s right. There’s no reason for Lily to get me in trouble. Not only would it make me look bad, but she’d also take blame. I’m sure her mother would hate finding out she’s been sleeping with me. I nod and hand Lily a shirt.

Pushing her delicate hands off of me, I walk out the room. Shouting behind me, “I’ll be back in a little. You’re welcome to make some food or whatever. Just don’t set the place on fire!” I grab my house keys and tug on my boots.

“No promises,” Lily calls back. A chuckle escapes my lips. Now, time to find out why Alie hates Lily so much.

I tap my foot against the bar stool as I wait for Alie to meet up. The plush seat feels wet under me from my perspiration. I’m nervous. The answer Alie will give me is most definitely something I won’t like. Either way, she isn’t taking my happiness into consideration and that also makes me nervous. I run a hand through my hair and sigh. Come on, where are you? All I want to do is go home and sleep with Lily, not get into another fight with my best friend.

A buzz goes off on my phone. “I’m not coming so go home,” Alie texts me. My face falters. Shit, didn’t see that coming. The smell of strong alcohol fills my nostrils. The bartender had pushed another whiskey sour towards me. I down it in one go, reveling in the taste.

Hours later I’m fumbling with my keys, scraping them against the metal doorknob. Come on Tay, you can do it. My inebriated self finally manages to shove the key in the hole and turn it. “Taylor, you’re back,” Lily greets me. Oh great she’s still here. Just when I was planning on calling up some friends miss clingy is present. I rub my eyes from the bright light of my apartment. The bar was so much nicer, so much darker. I stare at Lily, wondering why she is even here.

She clears her throat, “Uh, are you drunk?” Oh great, here comes the disapproving look. See this is why I can’t have a girlfriend, too nosy. My hand flies to my face hitting it, Lily is not my girlfriend. “I’ll take that as a yes,” Lily laughs. Her smooth girlish tone almost sounds musical.

“I was going to um invite some friends over, but I forgot you were here,” I admit. Her smile pulls down into a frown. My feet take me to the kitchen, leaving her behind. I grab some Nutella and prop myself on the counter, sticking my finger in the jar. Sweet hazelnut and chocolate goodness fills my mouth. I kick my legs out and hiccup. Man, I’m drunk.
