The Hunger Games

I looked around and saw that on one side of the arena, there were the plains, mountains, and hills and a big forest on the other. I looked closely and saw a spot I could fit in where I can see what was happing, but they can't see me. I was planning out how I was going to get up there without being seen.

I looked around for Maysilee, but didn’t see her. I did see Amber looking at me with an evil eye. I looked away. I must remember what Emily said. Then the man for the hunger games speaker words finally came in my head. "3... "said the man. Protect Maysilee "2..." find water “1...” get a pack and run. The gong went off and I sprung for the one in front of me, but stopped. I saw Katy get slit threw the throat by Jade and fall to the ground. Then Jade laughed and charged at another tribute. Dead. Katie is dead. I turned around and ran to the small forest without the pack. I ran and ran until I felt safe. I was near the mountains so I went looking for a cave. I didn't find a cave but I did find water. I knew I would find water up here.

I found the hiding spot. It was hard, but I found a way up. By the time I reached the top the blood bath was almost done. I searched fast over and over, but didn’t find Maysilee. She must be in the other side of the cornucopia if she was dead. When the bloodbath was over I counted that the cannon fired 24 times. I started to panic. Was Maysilee dead? Should I have looked for her instead of running away?

“Hello Haymitch.” I turned to see it was Maysilee with 2 knifes in her hand and pack over her shoulder. She saw I was looking at the knifes she had and said “don’t worry I am not going to hurt you didn’t Emily tell you that?” I swallowed the huge gulp in my throat.

“How did you get out of the bloodbath? I didn’t even see you.”

“I know I hid.” She must saw the confused look on my face because she spoke again. “I ran and grabbed the pack. Then I saw knifes and hid behind a large box near the silver knifes.” She paused to make sure I was getting it. “I took one at a time until Jade took the rest, but before I hid I saw go to the mountain” She sat down next to me and handed me the pack. In the pack it had beef jerky, 2 water bottles, one was half filled, crackers, a sleeping bag, and a belt to put your weapons. We sat there taking turns looking out to see if anyone was coming. Finally we heard screaming from someone coming our way.

“Follow me” I said. We both grabbed our things and ran the other way. I have no idea what we are running from. I heard some people laugh behind me. It must be the carrers going after another victim. We ran to the middle of the forest were we found a little hole in the ground told Maysilee to put are stuff in there. I grabbed the knifes and put them in my belt. I started putting dirt on top of the bag to cover it, but she asked me a question.

“What if someone made this hole and comes back looking for it, but finds our stuff."

"We'll dig another hole over there" I pointed to the tree next to this one.” And one right overrrrr there to put are stuff. “She nodded and dug. Once I had finished Maysilee said something that caught my attention. ”Haymitch I found some water, but be quite someone’s there. I walked quietly to a bush near the lake. I squinted to see Colt. He cupped his hands under the water and brought it close to his face for a sip.He drank it and smiled. He put his hand back for more then collapsed on the ground. Maysilee with wide eyes ran over to him. She put her ear on his chest and checked his heartbeat. “He’s…he’s…dead.” What I ran over and checked his pulse. He really was dead. A cannon went off.

“Colt…Colt are you there? Come on he must be there” said a boy.I grabbed the empty water bottle and filled it with the poison water. We both ran back to the forest without looking back. I can hear a shriek from a girl or it might be the boy, I don’t know. I told Maysilee we can leave the water bottle, some on will find it drink it and die. She thought about it for a little bit and agreed to try it out I grabbed the water bottle and put it sideways as if someone “accidentally” dropped it. That’s when we heard the carrers. They must have heard the shouting for Colt .I saw Maysilee run towards them. She shouted at them that there too slow. That got them chasing after her. She grabbed my hand as she ran past me. She brought me to a tree and we both climbed it. The carrers didn’t see us, but like we planned they stopped by the water bottle and Silver picked it up.

“Give that to me I’m thirsty” said a carrer who I don’t know. He snatched it out of her hands and took a big gulp. He gave it back to her, but fell down dead. Royce checked he pulse when the cannon went off. I looked at Maysilee as she smirked at the dead guy.

“Let’s try again this will be easy” I didn’t know she was so… well… EVIL.

“Um... Maysilee… are you feeling okay” I saw her look away.

“Sorry Haymitch, I just want to get out of here as fast as I can.” The carrers left without the water. That means we can use it again, but not like how Maysilee used it. Started going down the tree when she told me to wait. I waited as she tried to get to another tree. Trust me she’s not good at climbing trees. A tree branch snapped and she fell.
