"Desirae dear, would you please fetch the mail?" I put down my novel."Yes mum!" I ran down the stairs, and picked up the pile of letters by the front door. Bills, bills, a letter from Aunt Gemma, and a letter for...me? "Mum, there's a letter here for me!" I ran into the kitchen where she was making breakfast.

"A letter? For you? Let me see it." I handed her the letter and watched as a smile grew on her face. "Go on, open it." She said, handing it back to me. Just as I began to open it, my father joined us at the table. "What's going on dear?" He was puzzled. "Our daughter has finally gotten her letter." I gently opened the envelope and pulled out the letter.

"Dear Miss Hunter, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry." I looked up at my parents. "I'm a witch?" "Yes dear, just like me." I smiled. "So I don't have to go to my other school anymore?" They both laughed. "No, you don't have to set foot in that school anymore." I grinned.

"Now come on." Mum said. "We're going shopping."

"Mum, where are we going to get all of this?" I looked back down at the list in my hand. "You'll see." I followed her to a small, run down pub that no one really noticed. We walked through to the back door until we came across a brick wall. "Now what?" I asked, looking for any way out. She pulled out a stick-no a wand and tapped a pattern on the brick wall. It opened to reveal an entrance to a huge alley full of different stores. "This is Diagon Alley, the only place in London we can find everything you need for Hogwarts."

We went to several shops, after exchanging our muggle money for Galleons, Sickles and Knuts. I got all my books, and even a cute snowy owl I named Bo.

"I'm going to run and get something real quick, you go to Olivander's for your wand. Mr. Olivander sells the best wands." I nodded, before running off with my owl, and money in my hands. I slipped inside and set Bo's cage near the door. "Hello?" I called out. Off to my left a ladder slid down the row of shelves, revealing a man who I guessed was Mr. Olivander. "Ahh, Miss Hunter, I was wondering when you'd be coming for your first wand."

I walked up towards the counter and watched Mr. Olivander pull a few boxes off the shelves. He pulled one out the box and held it out towards me. "Try this one." I admired the wand, before waving it towards a shelf. Boxes flew off the shelf with a bang and I had to crouch to avoid being hit. "No no, definitely not!" I handed him the wand, what a shame-it was very beautiful. He pulled a mahogany colored one with leaves carved into the handle from another box and handed it to me. I waved it towards the lamp and it exploded.

"Not that one either." He placed the two rejected wands back on the shelf and reached for the third. "Maybe this..." I nearly gasped at the sight of it. It's was a pale brown color, with a single snowflake carved on the handle. The snowflake changed from blue, to a pale purple, to white, like it couldn't chose a color to be. It glowed when I held it, and Mr. Olivander smiled. "Well there we are, a perfect match." I grinned from ear to ear as I paid for my new wand.

I grabbed Bo's cage and said goodbye to Mr. Olivander, before leaving the store and colliding with a young boy. "Sorry! Are you okay?" Bo let out a frustrated squawk, and I flinched. "I'm alright. And it was really my fault, I wasn't paying attention." I took a second to get a better look at this boy. He was about the same height as me, though I'm rather short for my age, he had black hair like me and green eyes behind his round glasses. "I'm Harry Potter." I smiled.

"Desirae Hunter. I assume you'll be going to Hogwarts?" He nodded shyly. "I guess I'll see you around sometime." I said, noticing my mum walking towards me. I waved goodbye and ran up to my mum. "Did you get a wand dear?" "Yes, and it's beautiful! I can't wait to go to Hogwarts now!" She laughed. "I was the same way. I have a little surprise for you." She handed me a set of books, tied together with a pale blue ribbon, my favorite color.
