"You understand the hardships of war, correct?" Her voice fully recovered, she had regained her proper cold tone, xayah had dismissed all feelings she felt yesterday and began to focus back on the war.
"Mhm!" Rakans cheerful voice seemed so innocent to xayah, 'Why does he have to be dragged into this war?'
"You can turn back now, I don't need you to protect me." She didn't want him to go through with it, although she kinda wanted him to stay with her but then again..
"Yes, you do.. I told you, i will stay by you forever." His persistence was something she did agreeably like.
Xayah looked at him questionably, "let's find dead bird skulls."
"Not ours, right?" He said with it seeming like actual confusion was present in his tone.
She face-palmed silently, "Of course not ours, Rakan." She said scattering around the area of trees, she felt no mercy for anything not even her own parts of her blood, birds.
Finding a dead bird on the ground was very easy, it was almost sad. Rakan looked at it and tilted his head away. "Can you do the part of getting the skulls?"
Xayah felt annoyed but she did the process fast, ripping the skull from the tiny body, Cleaning off the bone and removing the brain, no blood remains.
"Here." She tosses the skull to the golden peacock.
Gross. Nasty. Were the first things that came to mind for Rakan. "Ew. EWW!" He hated the idea of him touching something that used to contain a brain and be alive.
"Stop being such a baby," she said harshly but Rakan took it as if she was playing around.
"Bleeh! This is still really gross." He painfully pulls three short feathers from his wing, barely noticeable.
He attaches each feather on the back of the bird skull, making it as stylish as vastayanly possible.
Meanwhile Xayah hunts for a small bird, somewhere in the sky. She overtime sees a bird hover above her, shooting multiple of her feathers. Missing over and over again, "God-Damnit." She says missing the 16th feather, "birds are so fast."
"But you aren't fast." Rakan says while letting out a small chuckle. Xayah turns to him giving him a death stare. "Sh-" and she hits one of her feathers directly into the bird, through the heart.
It falls in the area of grass in the forest.
She calls back every single feather and walks towards the lonesome bird, "I'm sorry." She mumbles below her breath.
Although it's dead, she couldn't help but feel a little bad. It died so quickly too, 'that's scary, can we die that fast? Just like that bird..? Are we as weak as that bird?'
She shrugs off the meaningless concerns and digs into the birds head, cutting out the skull once more like she did the last one. Extracting all of the blood off the bones and the brain.
"Rakan, are you finished?" She said holding up the newly fresh bird skull.
"Come here." He said examining his creation.
Xayah walks to him, he ties the brightly feathered skull on her right side of her shoulder. Exactly like she had said.
She plucks three feathers off of her wing and hands them over with the new skull.
"Woah.. it looks so perfect on you, and gives off that dangerous vibe." He said while handling the new skull and feathers, putting them also into what he did for hers.
