A part of me {Kaneki x OC}

Protecting

It was late at night and Kaneki was walking me home from out 'date'. As we reached my street a ghoul jumped down from the roof of a building. He had a kagune that came off his hand and resembled claws.

{A/N I just wanted to point out that I don't know if there are different types of Koukaku and what they look like so I made one up :P}

Kaneki got in front of me. The other ghoul saw how Kaneki was trying to protect me and decided to come after me. Kaneki tried to block him but wasn't fast enough.

The ghoul attacked me using his kagune to scratch from the corner of my eye to my ear. I cried out from the pain and dropped to my knees. I put my hand over the cut to try and stop the bleeding. Kaneki spun around and dropped down to me.

"Akemi are you okay?" he asked slowly moving my hand. Blood trickled down the side of my face, thankfully the cut wasn't very deep, but it was still pretty bad. He turned around to the other ghoul. He was mad.

"Nobody hurts Akemi and gets away with it." he charged at the ghoul, I watched them fight. Kaneki was getting a lot stronger. Hopefully he won't lose control again.                   
                      
                      [Kaneki's POV]

I had to protect Akemi even if it meant putting my life at risk. I waited for the perfect opening to attack, then it came. I stabbed his chest. I didn't do enough damage to kill him, just enough to make him stop attacking.

He clutched his chest, coughing up blood. I stared into his eyes giving him a look that showed no mercy. He then retreated leaving me and Akemi in the abandoned street.

                         [Akemi's POV]

"I'll take you home." Kaneki said taking off his scarf and wrapped it around my head. As we walked Kaneki seemed to be on high alert for any other ghouls.

"It's just over here." I told him when we neared my apartment. I opened the gate that led into my small yard and unlocked the door.

"Goodnight." Kaneki said before leaving. I waved to him as he walked away. I entered my apartment and locked the door behind me. I went into the bathroom and took off the scarf. I gently dabbed it with a cotton square from the first aid kit i kept under the sink. At least it stopped bleeding. I took some gauze and wrapped it around my head a few times.

I was glad Kaneki was there to protect me, if he wasn't I wouldn't be alive right now. I started to cry, this is the second time I would have died if Kaneki hadn't been there to save me. Sooner or later I would be on my own in a fight, at this moment I was too weak to fight a ghoul without some sort of weapon. That's why I need to get stronger, so Kaneki won't always have to protect me, I need to fight my own battles from now on.
