I walked to Anteiku to visit Kaneki, I spent the week in Osaka with my sister for her wedding and felt bad that I never let him know. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and checked the time, I still had a few minutes until he started his shift.
Maybe I should buy Kaneki a small gift....
I went into a small book store and looked around. My eyes fell upon a collection of horror novels.
I think he will like this. I thought to myself with a smile. I turned it over and checked the price, ¥2500.
A little expensive but whatever. I went to the checkout and paid for it. I exited the store and checked the time again. Kaneki's shift had just started.
He's going to be surprised when he sees me. I smiled as I speed walked to Anteiku. When I got there I stopped in my tracks. The small cafe was completely empty except for Touka putting chairs on the tables.
I knocked on the window to get her attention. She looked up and went over to the door and walked down the small flight of stairs. She looked up and down the street before quickly pulling me up them and inside.
"What are you doing here?" she asked both surprised and confused.
"I came to see Kaneki" I replied, oblivious to what had happened.
"Is he here?" I asked glancing around. Touka shook her head looking down at the floor. I noticed something was troubling her.
"Kaneki isn't here because.......he's gone they took him." A single tear rolled down her cheek.
"What are you talking about?" I felt the tears well up in my eyes.
"Aogiri took Kaneki somewhere and we couldn't do anyth-" Before Touka had time to finish her sentence I ran out of Anteiku pushing my way through crowds of people, I had to find him.
Please let him be okay I prayed as as tears began to fall from my eyes. I kept running even if I didn't know where I was. I looked around, everything was dark and ominous looking. I fell to my knees.
This can't be happening. I didn't bother to try and stop the tears from falling.
No, I can't cry at a time like this. I wiped my eyes and stood up. My chest ached and my legs burned, but I didn't care, Kaneki's safety mattered more.
In the distance I saw a building, it was one of the only ones fully intact, so I decided to check there first. As I slowly made my way over to it I saw two people wearing red cloaks, guarding the entrance. I hid behind what was left of a wall.
Damn, how am I supposed to get in now? I wasn't sure if they were ghouls or not but I wasn't taking my chances. I need some sort of weapon...
Under some rubble I spotted a metal briefcase. I crawled over to it and pulled it out. A smile spread across my face as a plan began to form in my mind.
I slowly approached the cloaked guards.
"Hey, who are you?" one of them shouted at me. I didn't answer. They looked at eachother and nodded before coming at me. Both of them had a koukaku kagune, little did they know I had a trick up my sleeve.
I opened the briefcase to show a quinque that looked similar to a whip, but was split at the end. Thankfully for me my cousin Hajime from the 15'th ward had one similar to this, so I had an idea of how to use it.
I aimed it at the ghoul on the left and wrapped it around him. I pressed a small button on the bottom of the handle and watched as the ghoul was electrocuted, dying instantly.
The other ghoul ran at me faster than before and swung at my arm, making a small cut in my shoulder. I cried out a little from the pain. The ghoul laughed and came at me again. I gripped onto the handle tighter and quickly wrapped it around his neck. I looked him dead in the eyes as I killed him.
I froze in place as I heard someone scream.
Kaneki...
I ran inside the building, sprinting up several flights of stairs and ended up standing in front of a large double door. I could feel that Kaneki was behind here, all I had to do was get inside, then I would be able to see him again, I would be able to be with him again.
I pushed on the doors, but they didn't open. I walked back a few steps and threw myself at the door, opening it, leading into a domed room with a checkered floor. I saw two ghouls one lying on the ground the other was Kaneki, tears formed in my eyes as I ran over to him and hugged him tightly. Something about him felt different, like he had no fear anymore.
I looked up at him, his now white hair covered his gray eyes. It looked as if he was waiting for something to happen. I was a little curious at who the other ghoul was but I didn't care, I was just glad that Kaneki was okay.
"Get behind me....." Kaneki said with little emotion in his voice. I quickly got behind him, not knowing what would happen if I didn't.
I watched as the other ghoul got off the ground. Kaneki ran at him with amazing speed. He jumped over him using his kagune to grab his head and flipped him over his head. Before the other ghoul had a chance to recover from the attack, Kaneki stabbed him in the back multiple times killing him.
Kaneki stepped back and walked over to me. He wrapped his kagune around my back and pulled me into a hug. Tears fell from his eyes and onto the back of my neck.
"I missed you Akemi...."
"I missed you too Kaneki..."
After a few moments Kaneki pulled away from the hug.
"We should leave before they come." Kaneki took my hand and we ran out of the building. A short while later he let go of my hand. Kaneki turned to face me.
"Akemi, I need to ask you something."
Is it finally happening?
"O-okay what is it?" He took both of my hands into his and looked into my eyes.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" My heart began to race as I heard the words I've longed to hear.
"Yes I will" I smiled trying to keep my blushing under control.
"Then that means I can finally do this." He put his thumb under my chin and his lips gently brushed against mine. Everything around us stopped. It all felt like a dream, but it wasn't, all of this was real.
Every single moment.
Thanks for reading my first book I just wanted to say that I will be writing a sequel to it so go and read it when it's posted :)
